Are sexual fluids infectious for HIV?
« on: April 21, 2008, 09:58:51 am »
Hi Dr. I'm a Vietnamese so my english is not well.  I hope you don't pay attention to my english.
My question:
I knowm sexual fluids contain infectious HIV. So HIV HIV is a sexually transmitted infection.
Last night, I had protect sex( i used condoms while I had sex with another, i'm male, another is female). While coitus, my condoms is intact. After I had finish it. I removed it by myhand. Suddenly, i remember my hand had injury, my hand still bled. Because while coitus, I touched myhand into a prod. The sexual fluids isn't waterless. The sexual fluids touched the stream of blood.
I worried.
Should I use PEP ??????
Thanks.

I'm not Ann, but can help you, A.

HIV is transmitted on the inside of the body. Your hand was always on the outside of her body.

Good going using a condom, by the way. Keep using them (and plenty of water-soluble lube) and you should be just fine.
Blessed with brains, talent and gorgeous tits.

Even though you had an open wound on your hand, I daresay the actual wound happened before you had intercourse. If I am correct about that, although not visible to your eye, the wound had already begun forming a transparent covering with which the skin begins to heal.

Additionally and no less importantly, HIV is a fragile virus. It requires a particular kind of receptive setting such as is provided by either vaginal or anal intercourse. A wound on your hand does NOT provide such a setting.

You are worrying unnecessarily. There is no need for testing.

Cheers,
Andy Velez

Thank everyone
I feel my soul well.
I wonder: " while coitus, I touched my hand into a prod. The prod made my hand was bleeding".
I don't worry about it, do I ??????

No, A you don't need to be worried. As our other experts have told you, you were not at risk.

I don't know what a "prod" is, but that is not really relevant.  I do know that in the entire history of the epidemic I have never known of anyone to have become infected in the manner you are worrying about. And you won't make history by becoming the first such.

I refer you to what has been said previously. It's simply not the setting necessary to make transmission possible. You are worrying needlessly.

A,

I think you mean "her vaginal fluid", only men produce seminal fluid. But anyway, that is not a risk for HIV infection. You were not at risk.
