Hi i need to know if its possible to know when you might have caught HIV ..ie when your CD 4 count is 520 can you guess when contact was made with a HIV+ person.like 2 years or less? thank you.

It is really not possible to know this based on cd4 count or viral load. Some people remain healthy for years and years. Others progress rapidly. And in the first year after infection, numbers tend to bounce around quite a bit.

thanks Jkinatl2 for your reply,i ask this for a friend who is now down to 280 cd4 count and is very tired all the time ,but here in thailand no one starts meds till cd count is 200.I have read many stories on this forum about people starting meds at 500.so different in every country.

many people in thailand can not afford any meds and simply go home to thier village and die.i have met many children here who have lost both parents to aids.and are being looked after by thier grand parents. safe sex is not known about here.in rural areas young people are very sex active and no condoms used.

I went to a temple in lop Buri 2 hours north of bangkok 3 days ago...very sad place.When people have no place to go the monks there will take them in and look after them,they recieve donations from the public anfd do there best but when people come here they havecd number like 30 or 12 and one lady had 3.they have 7 furnaces to burn the bodies.a very sad place because thai people are afraid of HIV people and send them away from their families.so they get sicker and finish up at the temple if they are lucky.www.prabatnumpu.com
