I am new to the forum family here. I have been HIV positive since '99. I began Combivir and Sustiva at that time, Sustiva was discontinued due to severe depression after taking it for three years and I began taking Viramune. I have taken Combivir and Viramune since 2002 without any complications, life is good, that's always been my attitude.
In June I finally admitted to my doc. that the diarrhea (which had only began 6 months prior) was becoming more than bothersome; intolerable. We stopped all meds for a week and I began Truvada and Isentress. The only issue I had with this combination was a lot of muscle twitching and muscle spasms/cramps. We decided to stop the combination after 26 days, I took no meds for another week, and the issue resolved.
I am currently trying Atripla, I cannot see myself functioning when school starts back in two weeks; I am two semesters from finishing my Bachelor's degree in nursing. I need to be in control and I cannot function as a nurse with theses side effects.
The decision is mine according to my doc. So my question to those of you with more experience at other combinations is: If I take the combination Truvada and Viramune (which I am already accustomed to) will the muscle twitching and spasms cease after some time? Has anyone had that particular issue with Truvada? Any signs and symptoms of lactic acidosis?

Inchlingblue, thank you so much for the link. I started Monday with the Truvada/Viramune. I will think positive and hope for the best with this combination, I'm going to try not to complain about side effects, there are always so many other variables to consider secondary to the HIV medications.
