Is ELFA-Vidas a reliable test for HIV?

Situation: During Nov’06, Dec’06 & Jan’07 (last sexual contact around 4th Feb’07), I have had sexual contact about 9 – 10 times with 3 - 4 call girls (1 or 2 of them I now remember had purple colored tongues & 1 or 2 sores around the mouth/lips). My sexual contact included lying nude with the girls, sitting on top of them both ways (Tummy up & tummy down) & vice versa, taking & giving them nude body massage, sucking & licking their boobs, some licking & kissing on the body (never lip to lip) including breasts, face, arse etc., 3-4 times fingering the girls in their vagina; my penis tip has touched their arse lip or vagina lips but never had any intercourse with any girl except once using a condom for a 3 minute duration (woman on top); drinking alcohol from same glass; everytime I got the girls to masturbate me with their bare hands.

Symptoms: Since about the 1st week of March’07, I have been having the following symptoms which got reduced after the first month:
1.   Red rashes on the body especially chest & body itching.
2.   Pin-prick & tingling sensation on various parts of the body (still there).
3.   Enlarged lymphnodes in neck, armpit & groin (reduced after penicillin injection)
4.   Still having dry lips with very little whitish mucous kind of formation on the lip corners
5.   Still having a very dirty tongue (inspite of 4 times cleaning a day) with a whitish yellow coat ( thrush-like)
6.   Body pains for about a month which have now subsided.
7.   Lost 3 Kilos weight in about 3 weeks but have now regained 1 kilo.
8.   Semi solid stools twice a day since last 2 months.
9.   Continuous hair like cuts on both sides (not top or bottom) of my tongue & sometimes had small, hairlike, thin whitish flesh like formations just coming into my mouth

Tests: Got tested on 20th April’07 (10 weeks after last contact) for HIV using ELFA – VIDAS method (Is this a good test?); result – negative (it says 0.03; > 0.25 is positive, <0.25 is negative).

Got tested for Syphilis twice (20th Apr & 29th Apr) using TPHA method; result: indeterminate both times. Doctor advised 2.4 mg Penicillin injection which I had. Moreover, would getting a penicillin injection for possible syphilis mask my chances of HIV antibodies detection in future? I had a penicillin injection on 29th April'07

Pls. tell me what are my chances of having contracted HIV?

Your chances of contracting HIV from the purple tongue aliens is ZERO.

It's hardly surprising that you tested negative - nothing you did with the sex workers was a risk for hiv infection.

Symptoms or even the lack of symptoms mean nothing when it comes to hiv infection. Whatever has been going on with you has nothing to do with hiv as you haven't had a risk and you've had a negative test result. You don't have hiv.

You need to be using condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, every time, no exceptions until such time as you are in a securely monogamous relationship where you have both tested for ALL STIs together. To agree to have unprotected intercourse is to consent to the possibility of being infected with a sexually transmitted infection. Sex with a condom lasts only a matter of minutes, but hiv is forever.

Have a look through the condom and lube links in my signature line so you can use condoms with confidence.

Anyone who is sexually active should be having a full sexual health care check-up, including but not limited to hiv testing, at least once a year and more often if unprotected intercourse occurs.

If you aren't already having regular, routine check-ups, now is the time to start. As long as you make sure condoms are being used for intercourse, you can fully expect your routine hiv tests to return with negative results. Don't forget to always get checked for all the other sexually transmitted infections as well, because they are MUCH easier to transmit than hiv.

Keep using condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse and you'll continue to avoid hiv infection.

Since last 2 months I have been displaying all the common HIV related symptoms like..itchy rashes, pinprick & needles sensation, enlarged lymph nodes, very dirty tongue with a whitish yellow thrush-like coat, Body pains,3 Kilos weight loss in 3 weeks, Semi solid stools twice a day, Continuous hair like cuts/grooves on both sides (not top or bottom) of my tongue..

Have I contracted HIV & do I need to test for HIV using ELISA or is ELFA-Vidas test better?

As you have already been told, you haven't had a risk for hiv infection. Not one single thing you did could have resulted in hiv infection.

After looking around the ELFA-Vidas website, it looks like you probably had a viral load test. But whatever test it was, VL or ELISA, you are hiv negative.

Keep using those condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse and you will remain hiv negative. It really is that simple.

Whatever your symptoms are (and yours are NOT "all the common HIV related symptoms"), they have nothing to do with hiv. You are hiv negative. See your doctor about your symptoms.
