On the 20th of February we will be launching a "De-stigmatisation Campaign" in Auckland.

This has never been done before in NZ so we are all very excited and pleased about the publicity we have had so far, the media will be present on the 20th to do interviews, and we have been booked to do interviews with two NZ woman magazines..and thanks to the generosity of one of the local TV stations we have been given some free air time to do a small documentary about stigma, and we are hoping this will be picked up by a few more nation wide stations.

The posters are now ready and our faces will be displayed on all public transport in every major city, and the leaflets/brochure's will be in all the major hospitals and clinic throughout New Zealand in the hope that we will finally be able to get the message across.

This is the photo they have selected for my poster..not too serious but not too sad either.

You have way more guts than I do to be able to be involved in something like this. I hope everything goes smoothly. I think it will. Think there's any chance of those interviews being posted online and stuff so we could see? I want to see Jan on TV. Eeee.

When Jeromy had shown me your picture, my first word was: stunning.

There is something just wonderful about your face and look that I think will grab people's attention. I said before when you announced your participation in the campaign, and I repeat it now: I'm quite proud to have you be a representative face of living with HIV.

Jan, you look wonderful, but I knew that already from viewing the links to the AMG SF videos.

We have been discussing stigma a lot in my support group and just last week I told the group leader that I really wanted to do something to make a difference.

I am glad that you are doing your part over there in NZ!

Thank you all for your kind words and encouragement...well most of you anyway..

Rod...no airbrushing, just a major face lift on the day, make up to hide the scares and a bit of lippy..

We are hoping to have something on line within a few weeks after the launch or at least something I will be able to share with you all, so I will keep you updated.

I was going to post this in Jeromy thread but didn't want to Hi jack it or take anything away from the wonderful work he is doing about Stigma and discrimination.

Cindy..like you and Jeromy I'm very passionate about getting the message out there..all you have to do is talk to the right people and take it from there, you will be surprised at the responce and support you will get, sometimes you just have to make the first move.

I would think the Transit Authority in Auckland will be pleased with their support in helping de-stigmatision but with your picture on their busses, will enjoy increased revenues from all the new riders

I've never been more proud of you honey. This is a great thing you are doing. I agree with Iggy, I am so proud to have you representing People Living with HIV/AIDS.

You're an incredible woman, and one that I am glad to count as a dear friend.
I wish you great success with this campaign, and I feel confident that it will go well.

Today (Ash Wednesday) when I received the imposition of the ashes by my priest, there was a lot of meaning to me in his words: "Remember that you are dust, and to dust you shall return." I have been to quite a few funerals lately. It just reinforces in my mind the need for all of us to live our lives, each and every day, as fully and as richly as we can. You are doing that, and I salute you.

Here's to "making it count" !

Jan is a very, very good looking lady. I know her family has be very proud of her. I couldn't have asked to meet a nicer lady in SF..She's a good interpreter too. I must admit that I ratted you out for this post to Debra and she has authorized me to call my cousin Carmine who is in the business in New Jersey to pay you a visit. I can't do the espresso. As for the pictures, my Uncle Vini said they aren't going anywhere until we get Top Dollar.

Ann..when I do my talks there is always someone who will ask "have you ever experienced stigma since your diagnosis"..and I always tell them about that women from my art class..well, she did stalk me for several weeks..

I always end the story with "I'm not proud of it but I ended up decking her" followed by laughter and aplause from the students...they seem to like that, and a bit of violence helps to spice up the story a bit...

You guys certainly taught me how to stand up for myself in those early days...

Thom and I could not be prouder of you. We knew that when we first met you in Toronto in 2005 that you were very special. A woman with a true purpose here on earth.
