Only positive, positive people need reply.
« on: August 14, 2014, 07:23:51 am »
Why are people so bloody negative on about stuff on here? Yes it sucks, I got it from a woman i had sex with for 3 minutes. This was the 1st time i haven't used a condom without being in a relationship with a girl, so my chances were slim to none of getting it, but i did, I don't drone on about why me etc. Unless you are having physical illness, all the rest of it is in YOUR'E HEAD so just try and get over it. If you were diagnosed with diabetes, you would just accept it and do what you had to do to survive, but on here people go on about the "struggle", makes me laugh. We should be strong for each other, not neg each other out. But you know what they say, "Misery loves company"

;D

Welcome to the forums . People reactions to testing positive is their own and it is a big deal to many so try not to diminish other peoples experience because its different than your own experience . There are some that lose jobs, home and family when they test poz, there are some who face violence when their status is known .

Also, people still die of HIV everyday and some that die are on meds . It is a big deal to many but I'm happy you are handling it well, good for you .

Fair enough Jeff good point, but that's all stigma related, apart from the people dieing bit but people die young everyday who don't have HIV i think thats important to note. Where i live in the UK we have had 400 deaths of people living with HIV who have died over the last 5 years. Many of those deaths weren't even HIV related. What these stats show is close to the same mortality rate of people living HIV+ and people living HIV- so i don't believe that to be a great argument. People have also chose to disclose their status and have put themselves into that position. While i don't think you should like in fear i do think you should be smart with who you tell and i wouldn't even consider telling someone that doesn't love or care for me as its none of their business therefore i won't encounter any stigma like that.

Your numbers are incorrect, you lose between 400-600 people PER Year.

Also, this is a physical illness and I can assure you that the mental piece of HIV is just as strong as the physical, if not stronger. So to simply dismiss this for people, is horrifically bad taste. Welcome to the forums, I hope you learn to be a lot more accepting and know this a place for support, in all ways. People are encouraged to "drone on" as much as they'd like, if you don't like it the beauty is that you don't have to read it, or even participate, or hell even login. I look forward to seeing your positive posts, but don't worry when HIV does play a mind game with you, and it will, we will be here not to say we told you so, but to help you drone on and listen to you.

Sorry if that wasn't positive enough for you.

WhenWhereWhyHow - please go back to your first thread and read posts by me and leatherman specifically addressed to you.
Your ignorance and naiveté are at the moment causing you to actually say insulting and ridiculous things to a big, diverse crowd of HIV+ people with many many different life stories.
I certainly forgive your statements - for being a newbie -  but doesn't mean you get to have such verbal diarrhoea without someone calling it out.  You are in for some eyeopeners!

Why are people so bloody negative on about stuff on here?

;D

First, welcome to the forums.  For me, this is my main avenue of interacting with people who share similar experiences.  A support forum in itself is just that.  A place for people to post about negative experiences that others can relate to.

If life is so bloody great, why the need to search out an HIV support forum?  That isn't meant to be crass by any means.
Being honest is not wronging others, continuing the dishonesty is.

Jeff on the spot. Ya beat me to it. Another situation in which someone brightens the room by leaving it.

Begone!
