Anal Wart Freezing - Any Recovery Tips?
« on: May 01, 2007, 10:30:06 pm »
Last week I had my 5th bout of anal wart freezing, over the last 4 years.  The little buggers keep coming back.  They've all been external, so my doc freezes them and covers them with podophyllin.

Does anyone have any tips to aid with healing?  Excuse the grossness, but the treatment always makes the area sore and weepy.  With my recent bout with MRSA I'm doubly concerned about speeding the healing.   Any tips are appreciated.

Hmm I had surgery about anal warts years ago and they never came back (that was like 15 years ago maybe more). Maybe you should consider surgery instead of freezing?

I've had surgery twice for them -- so surgery isn't a guarantee.  My doc would have frozen them off, if they were only external, but, alas, they were internal too.  Although, I have had a couple of external in between surgeries that responded to Aldara cream -- so no freezing needed.
What I did each time, was take baths, as hot as you can stand them, every few hours and then put Nupercainal creme on the area.  If it's weepy, you might want to ask about using an antibiotic ointment.

Hope things heal quickly.

Almost 2 years ago I had a rather rough case of them.  I finally ended up doing surgery.  They have not came back that I can tell but my ass has not been the same.  I agree with the hot baths.  When you dry off don't rub pat!  I also took stool softeners but I doubt since you had any internals that would help a lot.  Also after BMs shower as that seems to be much easier than using TP.  Hope all goes well I am right there with you!

Thanks guys.  The problem seems to be that once the frozen skin "breaks" its hard to heal since its constantly rubbing against the other cheek! I've been spending a couple hours with my butt in the air (no smart remarks) trying to get the area to dry out.

Try putting a "make-up removal pat, in cotton, folded double between your cheeks, close to your sphincter.
They are soft and absorb. Change them regurarly.

Memories of OUCH OUCH OUCH!

I found hydrocortisone cream helped soothe the zapping a little, until mine got so out of control I had to have laser surgery.

That was in 2003 and they haven't returned since, he said, fingers crossed.

The warts come from a virus -- I have not heard of any of these things impacting the development of warts -- and I hope my doctor would have mentioned this to me.  Where is this information coming from??
