I am in tears
« on: December 03, 2006, 10:51:55 pm »
Well, Wow, what a ride 2006 has been for me...

One of the hotels I work for is having their big blow out Associate Christmas party downstairs tonight (tux's / formals) and very well dressed people..  I of course am not cut out for these events much anymore and both me and Will do not choose to go nor am I off work tonight..  Well I've been at it since 7am this morning and I get this call from my boss on the Security cell phone to haul my ass downstairs to the ballroom immediately.   I walk into the ballroom and there are about 600 Associates and their spouses, 1100 in total and the awards are on and spotlights spotting.   The Director of HR saw me and called me to the stage and I was given the "Stellar Performer of 2006 award"..   Never heard of it before!   The entire Executive Committee were on stage all dressed in formals and hugged me and thanked me for what I do for the hotel.   I cried and was really taken back by all of this..   Never would I have thought that I made that much a difference to so many.    Given what I have gone through these past six months and all, wow.   I can still do what I love to do..   I am so grateful for everyone here who has pushed and shoved me down this road..   I feel the best I have ever felt tonight...  Just thought Id tell you some good stuff about me and Will....

May the good stuff keep coming along...  Truly, happy Holiday's are in order..  Now I wish Will was here with me..

Love

Congratulations Eric - I was in the hotel business for a long time and finally got burned out and left it, but there are some great people around.

Hope you have a great holiday and enjoy your recognition am sure you earned it...and don't work too hard :)

That's awesome, Eric!!!!

When I read the caption to your post ("I Am In Tears"), I was expecting bad news.  It's so nice to hear about GOOD things happening to good people. (Admittedly, I don't really know you, but I feel like I do from having read so many of your posts!).  Congratulations!  I bet that spotlight glow is nice and warm, huh?

Cheers!

And maybe you ought to print this thread out so the next time you're worrying about something related to your job you can remind yourself of how you are appreciated.

It's wonderful that you have received that well deserved recognition. Sometimes it can be hard to take in, but go ahead, take it in!

Thanks all of you for the nice things you say...  My Self-Esteem issues have really taken an upturn in the past 24 hours.   I went home to Wiliam last night and he just keeps telling me "Eric I love you and I wish you would trust that people do actually care.   It's not all the doom and gloom you make certain situations out to be".   The family history is sometimes hard to overcome...

I really feel good !  I am going to go across the street and use the gift certificate I got last night to buy a new ski coat!

Eric,

I agree with the others, when I saw the title of the thread and thought it was bad news or drama. Goddess knows we've had enough of that going around here. I have read your posts in the past and think you are a sweet person. I have worked in the hotel industry in the past (hotel operator) and knows how stressful it can be. To be given that award shows how much they appreciate you. Congrats! You definitely deserve it!

Hey Eric,
What a great piece of news to read! May this set the tone for your holidays and the year to come. I can imagine how utterly shocked you were to be acknowledged by the people you spend more time with than Will, family or friends.

Eric,

You should be very proud of what you have achieved and Will is right, you need to have more faith in yourself and those who love and support you.  I understand how family history can create obstacles, but at some point you must choose to be happy and then the path becomes much clearer.  Try to focus on what you have because often that is all that we need.

Your honor is well-deserved and it follows the old adage of "What goes around, comes around."

This time it came around to you.

Congrats!!!!!

Happy tears are so so much sweeter than sad tears. For sure.
Congrats to you Eric!
