About 5 months ago i went on a weekend trip to t.j. I got drunk and had sex with a stripper. While wwe where having sex the condom slipped off.
The following day i started having symptoms like swollen lymph nodes aches all over my body head aches stiff neck  i went to a docter and got shots for stds i also took an hiv test but i never returned for the results because i was scared and i know a reliable test result woulndt be available until after 6 months. I told my father and we suffered together. I felt like my life was over and started to mess up in school to the point that i got kicked of the univeristy. I didnt know what to do. Everything was going wrong and started to doubt the existence of god. i distanced myself from my friends  and i felt completely alone. a moderator on this site gave me hope but i cant find them to thank him i swore to myself that if i was hiv neg. i would do anything to help people with hiv. i dont know why im crying now i guess its from relief and from continued sadness. my heart goes out to everyone here i got re tested and got a neg result i am 20 years old i live in cali i got readmitted to the university and im posting with my real name
PEACE

Well, I'm very glad you tested negative, Hector.

And you didn't have to wait for six months. The CDC is quite conservative about testing and has long considered 3 months to be sufficient except in cases which involved IV drug use or a severely compromised immune such as from cancer treatment.

Keep using those latex condoms everytime you have intercourse and you'll be fine as far as HIV is concerned. They really do the job.

I'm happy you have made it through. Good luck with getting on with your life.

Cheers,

Hector,

I've merged your new thread into your original thread - where you should post all your additional thoughts or questions. It helps us to help you when you keep all your additional thoughts or questions in one thread.

If you need help finding your thread when you come here, click on the "Show own posts" link under your name in the left-hand column of any forum page.

Please also read through the Welcome Thread so you can familiarize yourself with our Forum Posting Guidelines. Thank you for your cooperation.

A negative test at three months or more is conclusive. Go get tested and collect what I fully expect to be a negative result.

No, you absolutely cannot get HIV from being given head by anyone. There's never been a case of transmission in that manner so it's safe to say you won't make history by becoming the first.

There are other STDs which can be transmitted orally or by skin to skin contact. If you are sexually active it's a good idea to have a full STD panel done at least once a year and every six months is even better.

If you're not having any symptoms there's no rush to test. If you do have symptoms anytime that's something to discuss with your doctor. For instance, herpes is one of the STDs which can be acquired by skin to skin contact.

Your doctor or your local board of health should be able to supply you with all the basic info you need about other STDs.
