Went to the doc-going into hospital. (update)
« on: June 22, 2006, 01:38:24 pm »
I had to show my ass in the doctor's office today. I have an abcess on the top of my ass crack & they are going to put me on IV antibiotics . It is MSA a highly resistant staph type infection. I spiked a fever last night so I went in this am. Probably going to be gone for a few days.

Dan,

This happened to me last May (except on my thigh and not on my ass crack).  I was out of town, so I ended up in this little pissant hospital in Hooterville, Kentucky.  Had biscuits and gravy for breakfast every morning, yum, yum, yum!

I didn't have a PICC though -- wish I did, because those antibiotics wreak havoc on your peripheral veins, and more than a couple infiltrated.  At least with PICCs you don't have to worry about that.

Hope you're feeling better soon!

Take care,
John

Dan,
You take good care of yourself. MRSA is nothing to screw around with. I also hate hospitals and am not crazy about pic lines, but this stuff needs to be hit hard and pills won't do it.

I hope you are back in the pink very soon.

I had the same thing, in fact, four months later I am still wearing a maxi-pad because it drains sometimes.  major pain the 4ss, literally!  Mine was not "scary" staph, but still I feel for you.  Been there, done that and it sucks!!!

I have had the weekend from  HELL!!! I 've had a few pain pills so I'm feeling a little "loopy". I still have the infection, hasn't gone away yet. The doc will lance it in his office Tuesday am.  I went to the hospital and they put a pic line in & sent me home with a portable IV pump and an antibiotic. I had one of these portable pumps before when I had the really bad case of the shingles in 03. The damn pump kept getting occluded and it has done the same thing this time around. I went back to the emergeny room 5 times over the weekend.  & I had an allergic reaction to the antibiotic they put me on so they took me off that one and suspended the pump thingy. I will go to the infusion clinic starting Monday AM. I look really pretty with my itchy red welps all over my body & that pic line attached to my arm isn't a fashion statement I ever wanted to repeat. Just hope to God that this thing can be lanced soon. At least they gave me some good pain medication.

Thank you all for your words of encouragement. It's going to be a hard week ahead.

Dan

Sorry for the rotten weekend!

I know what you mean about those fanny pack pump thingys, I've used em twice (though I didn't have problems with the blocking).

Hopefully once they are able to lance, the pain will subside.

The allergic reaction should clear up fairly quickly now that they've changed the antibiotic.

Take care guy.

RAB

P.S.  thanks for checking in buddy.

I woke up this morning throwing up with a fever. Called the doc and he let me come in to the office.(they normally don't see patients on Monday) He deffinantly thinks I am allergic to cypro now. He lanced the cyst & sent off to have test ran on it. I started IV therapy at the infusion clinic & will be doing that for at least a week. Feel like crap to say the least.

Yep, While I am at the infusion clinic I am going to read one of my favorite books. "Midnight In The Garden Of Good And Evil."

My chest feels kinda tight and hurts. I have a sore throat & a bad cough. Quess this is my month to feel puny. I will make it through this. I've been through worse.

Ready for September to get here so I can show you the lovely (cough, cough) town of Jackson, Tn.

What are you going to do after the grand tour of the "Casey Jones Museum"?

Yes I am doing all of this just so I don't have to mow the yard. Ya got me. the doc lanced it again today and packed it with gauze. They will change the bandage daily. I will be going to the infusion clinic for a week and then I will start oral antibiotics. I can't take a shower or a bath so it's sponge bath time for me. I'm gonna feel like a dirty boy before this is all over. Wanna smell my pits? LOL

Hal you know as well as I do that there isn't much to "show" around here in Jackson. I could take him to Pinson Mounds. that would be interesting for about 15 minutes. LOL We could drive up to Reelfoot Lake then I could show him where I grew up in Union City. The trailer park where I was raped at the age of 16, the house where the neighbor boy molested me when I was 7. The high school I have so many fond memories of. (NOT) Hell you never know we just might pop in on you and go to dinner one night. If you want. I miss you buddy. Hope Sammers is doing ok. Give him a big kiss from his uncle Dan!
Lots of love and  :-* to you also.
