new to forum

i have been reading this forum for a long time now and you all seem to be so well informed. myself and my partner are long time survivors almost twenty years now...we got married anyway and i was the first person in my clinic to start receiving meds...not for health reasons just because they became available...19 yrs on meds and going strong. my body shape has changed dramatically and my husbands is allways very slim but was before anyway...he suffers from nerve and spinal compression damage and walks with difficulty ....i have a big fat belly some days and others no.....but hey we are well and results are allways good (mostly) my td4 is allways above 700 reaching 1200 sometimes his were usually much lower after two bouts of shingles but now he too is around 700......they tell us our virus seems to be very weak....aslong as we take meds all is well....apart from side effects.......but we are very resistent and tend to try and stay on same meds for along time...thus causing more physical and stomach probs...apart from his legs we are well and after being told 10 yrs ago to forget having a family as we probably had only 10 yrs left we have been considering having a child.........i thank all of forum users for giving me so much info...i tend to avoid anything to do with hiv...my family no nothing i have never told a soul.......but i am learning from you guys and just wanted to drop a line and intro duce myself. cheers xx

Welcome aboard. Sounds like you and your hubby have been through the many of the same things some of us have experienced.

thanx for the welcome guys.......i'm a bit unsure about all this...never spoke to anyone about my statis...not even the many counsellors who over the years have tried to coax me into "letting it all out" not my style i'm afraid...but i do feel anonimous here and SAFE TO TALK....so who knows maybe in time i'll become a real pain in the arse and you'll all be fed up of me ranting on like an old hen!!!!!!!! :Dcheers

long term survivor of 25 yrs-next february marks 26. i can remember when we had to wait till our t-cell got down to a certain number. then we could get that first med-AZT. i almost died in ward 5-a at san francisco general. i lost more than 40 lbs and thought i was gonna die. fortunatley, the doctor i was seeing, started me on a combination regimen that saved my life. i remember one of the drugs as being crixivan. you can say i have been given a second chance at life, but i have issues now i am dealing with that is more scarier than AIDS. i have have chorosis of the liver-caused by meds, and i have type 2 diabetes. i have lypodystrophy too. i am soon to see this doctor who may operate on me to get the fat off the back of my neck. medicare is paying for it. i have been posting at other forums but thought i would tell a little bit about me.
