Lab Results?

All-
I have had an undetectable vl for a little over a yr and my CD4s have always hovered in the mid 300-mid 400 range. I just received my last lab results. There is a good side or it and then a bad side.

1st, the good news: My CD4's have climbed to 575, up from 376
now...
the bad news: My vl is a "little over detectable"

My main question is how? I take my med religiously, albeit being a few mins l8 now and then. I do not make a habit out of that. I will add these results in my signature line. I tried to get in touch w/ my HIV specialist, but she was unavailable.

Bloody useless phrase, "little over detectable", where' the number? Less than 50 copies/mL is still the benchmark. Little over could mean 52 copies/mL, or could mean 42 if they's using the new test that measures down to 40, etc.

Clearly the specialist needs to spill the number beans eh?.

Good on the CD count though.

I understand your concern over what appears to be a "blip" with your VL.  I am not a professional who can answer your concerns directly here, its up to a Moderator to do that.  In the meantime, maybe this post from July will help you!  :)

I've had a couple of blips where my viral load "soared" to 75 over the years...all other times it's been undetectable (since early '95 in clinical trials).

I have no idea why it does that, and neither does my doctor.  I don't worry about it.

I would love to see that on paper... "just alittle bit over undetectable"   or "a tad shy of undetectable"...  Rob post your numbers...  200 increase in cd4's in 3 months?? Wow..

I am concerned over this vl "blip". I assume it is just that, but I ALWAYS worry. I do not know what my HIV specialist wants to do. I have tried contacting her via the hospital, the nursing coordinator line, leaving a message on her voicemail, and finally her email. No results as of yet. I will keep on pestering her til I get the exact figure.
I need to really know what a little over undectable means. Still I have no clarification.
It bugs me when this stuff happens.

When I 1st got my results, I was so happy that my CD4s shot up, but I became concerned about my vl. My #s rarely makes sense. The have mainly been on a see saw since I became undetectable a little over a yr ago. I STILL want to know what this means.

News from my HIV specialist-

a little over undetectable means that my vl went up to 51. It was less than 30 prior. Shud I still b worried>

I get worried about the littlest things. I ALWAYS worry WAY too much. That and my OCD...what a wonderful combo.
