I'm sick
« on: January 27, 2012, 10:06:21 am »
For the first time since my diagnosis 3 years ago I feel like I'm getting sick.  I have a raging headache and my stomach has decided to revolt every time I eat anything.  My health insurance starts on the first so I'm hoping I don't have to white knuckle it til Feb 1st and this just goes away.  Considering my luck the last year though I suppose we'll see.  This thread has no intrinsic value other than for me to gripe about my not feeling well.

Hey Trey,

Sorry to hear you are not feeling well.  Have you tried some ginger ale or yogurt to help calm your stomach.  Sometimes a few plain crackers can help, because then you at least have something in your stomach.  Feel better soon.   ;D

You better hang on 'til February 1st.

the flu or food poisoning, thankfully, are usually short-lived illnesses. Hopefully whatever has got you in its grip isn't anything too bad, and you'll be back up to par by the time that insurance kicks in.  ;) Hope you feel better soon!!

Peppermint tea sometimes helps the stomach, or you could use the old folk remedy I used to use with AZT - sniffing sliced lemons.
Something about the scent made me feel better.

Hope you feel better soon.

This. I have sort of lost track of where you are for the HIV, treatment, cd4's, etc.

Very worrying, you must feel quite ill to post this.

Trey,

Rest up and take care of yourself.  If you must go to a clinic before 2/1 -- then go, you can figure out finances when you feel better.

Now -- to pile on -- you are taking all your medicines right??

Hugs,
Mike

I'm thinking the same thing, get yourself to a clinic if need be.  Take your temp periodically too, and make sure that doesn't go on the rise.

Soups, ginger ale, juice and rest !! I went through something similar last week.  It was going around the workplace.

Started off with headache, and for the first time since I can remember, I threw up, plus I had the runs. For me, it lasted about 36 hours.

Take care---Ray

Feel better soon. I'd say 3 yrs w/o any major sickness is pretty good. Hopefully this is just a cold or a 48 hr crud. I'm with everyone else tho and say go to a clinic or er if you think you need some medication, or contact your regular doctor even. Hopefully it passes soon :)

Hopefully it's just a short-lived bug.  While the flu hasn't hit here yet, gastroenteritis has.  Feel better soon!  As others said, please don't put off seeing a doctor (if it comes to that) due to no insurance.  I know that's easier said than done, when you know bills will roll in.

Are you not currently seeing your regular HIV doc until the insurance kicks in?  I would have thought the New Orleans area would have an HIV clinic like we have here in Louisville--if you can't afford to pay, you pay nothing.  Or, you pay on a sliding fee scale.  That is obviously much cheaper than waiting and going to the ER.

There is a horrible. HORRIBLE. Cold going around. I am JUST getting done with mine and I started getting sick Xmas day.

It's not a flu - no high fever. It's just an awful, AWFUL cold.

Your mileage may vary, of course. If you DO spike a fever, consider doctor intervention. Otherwise, Mardi Gras isn't until the end of February- take the time you need to recover.

It's an especially awful cold.

I hope you're already feeling better Treybie....  if not, soon.  I was sick a couple of weeks ago.  Did my flu shot this year and still came down with something that resembled every bit of the flu minus the body aches.   I don't smoke ganja no more so I kind of forgot what it feels like to be sick.... lol  It sucks....

Glad to hear it.
May I suggest that if you're working, it's NOW time to return to workplace and spread your illness to your colleagues. This will ensure that they fully appreciate the hell you've suffered whilst on sick leave and also that you have a quiet week at work as they retire to their sick beds.

Excuse me, chile.  Aren't you supposed to be taking some type of prophylaxis for certain infections?  Last I recall you were still not in the clear as far as your CD4s go.

Glad to read that you're feeling better, but I hope you're not fucking around with your health.

Hope you're feeling better, I had a 24hour thing around Thanksgiving that kicked my ass but with some major hydration, rest and antibiodics, I was better in no time. I thought it was the flu, but thankfully it wasn't...Always get your flu shots! I got my flu shot but some flu strains are resistant and can be a real bitch. Best wishes!
