Khan Academy Immunology Videos
« on: May 18, 2013, 11:41:07 pm »
I have been a big fan of the Khan Academy, but just recently watched some of the immunology video lessons and found them to be very good at explaining the basics of how the immune system works -- and of course the Khan Academy is free and does not require registration, logging in, etc.

I know this has nothing to do with their immunologic videos, but I did use Khan academy prior to taking graduate statistics.  If it weren't for that (plus Stats for Dummies), I would never have made it through.

The site really does have a lot of interesting videos, including history, science etc.  Worth checking out if bored.

Betty, yes, they do great lessons on statistics and a variety of other subjects.  there is also a lesson on viruses in the general biology section where he gives a very good explanation of how hiv is different from other viruses.

Oh I love Khan Academy. Somehow I came across one of their videos on "how big the Universe is" and was so impressed I went through like 20 lessons on the universe/astronomy. He teaches in a way that is very easy to understand.

Yes he does.  I was so happy when I could understand the standard deviation crap and it was only due to the man's easy to follow directions and explanations.  I think his name is Saul?

Sal = Salman. Salman Khan. Not *the* Salman Khan, but still.

I started watching these too since I was already over there for other reasons. (I'm doing the math from beginning to end, which means I had to start with telling time. I was in a hurry once and actually got one wrong. Ha. Truth be told, though, I don't see analog clocks very often anymore, if at all.)

I like the way he says PHAAAG-O-CYTES.
