Hi, IMO you have scrambled too many questions together, so its impossible to answer in one cogent response.  Nothing wrong with the questions, mind you.

In short, IMO, "it all depends."  There may be several treatments eventually, that "cure" HIV, and each of those "cures" might be defined in a different way.

How each HIV+ person who is a candidate, moves though one of the possible "cures" will mean that there will be a LOT of variables - in who can benefit, how the treatment is experience, and what the result is, after treatment.

Have you followed recent discussions is this forum about the cure?   There were so many that some of us are a bit petered out talking about it.

in your signature line you have this:
"13/12/2012 cd4 523 24% vl <40"

You do realize that your CD4s are already back in the normal range (500-1500), right?? ;)

can they still have  those side effect during their ARV intake or all will subside, includes lipid, diabetes, etc ?
like mecch said, it all depends. For some people the damage to their system may be too much to ever "recover". Much will depend on the patient's history, time infected and just how the  "cure" cures the HIV.

I may be cynical, but I think access to that kind of treatment with be decided by the money the patient has than in regard to his health state...

In regard to CD 4, the actual meds help a lot to go back to normal level (particularly for those who start them early after infection), mmmm leatherman answered you yet and much better I would be able to do it...

I wouldn't bet on that.  ;)  ;D

If ART costs $2k a month, that's $24k a year. Living on ART for 20 yrs would cost $480k.

(wow! I wonder if that is how much it has cost for my 20 yrs of meds?!? I bet it's more because some of that stuff was pretty pricey when it first hit the market)

If the cure (a one time shot, a series of shots, or some other method) cost any less that $480k, states, the feds and insurance companies would jump on paying that lower cost than the high long term cost.

at least, that would be one of my advocacy talking points on why my state Legislators should fund the cure. ;)

Just take a look at me. A real good look at me. I've got my lipstick on. My bucci bag, and my pricey dress and I am ready to cure.
