As if my recent concerns about GI health with a colonoscopy scheduled for St Patrick's Day weren't enough (I'm *so* putting shamrocks up my squeaky-clean ass!), I have had to reckon with losing chunks of time from my memory intermittently over the last few months.  Generally 15 to 30 minutes, but one episode a couple weeks ago lasted close to 3 hours and included a fender bender.  So, last Wednesday I saw a neurologist specializing in brain injury, given my dark neurosurigcal history.

"Transient global amnesia" he called it.  The cause, he suggested, tends to be cardiac in nature, so he got me squeezed in with a top DC cardiologist Friday.  EKG was painfully normal, but I gather than the echocardiogram was odd given that it was done twice.  Nuclear stress test coming on the 7th, then I'll discuss my heart issues with the cardiologist.  MRI of my brain coming this Tuesday evening with an EEG Wednesday morning, and I'll discuss those finding with the neurologist then.  Both docs are fascinated by my LTNP status and my willingness to live without meds, but they don't believe now that HIV is damaging my brain or my heart.

Geez David,

I hope they find the root of the problem soon. I also hope they also find a way to treat it.

Glad to hear they got you in with a top cardiologist and I hope they can figure out what is going on soon. Good luck with all the tests!  I wish you the best!
