One Infection After Another Since Unprotected Sex.

Ok, so In February I had unprotected sex.  Since our stupid stupid rendezvous, I have been the sickest I have ever been in my life.  About a month after sex I was diagnosed with the weirdest pneumonia ever.  I woke up one morning with a burning chest.  No cold, no congestion, just a burning chest.  I wait it out a day, but then I got a fever, chills.  So, I go to the ER and its pneumonia.  I take the antibiotics and in a few days I’m feeling better.  Then my period starts on the tail end of that and it’s this really dark dark blood that last for a few days then stops.  Then a week later it starts again.  I’m thinking, “Am I pregnant?” Go to the Dr.  No, not pregnant.  Then less than a week later I get this migraine that lasts for 15 days (yes I counted).  I was back in the ER on an IV cocktail of meds that finally dissolved the headache.  Then came the herpes outbreak.  I have had herpes since I was 18 and I am now 34.  I popped some Valtrex, no problem right?  WRONG. As soon as one outbreak cleared up, another begins in a different location.  I take more Valtrex and I’m good.  I’m now thinking “Whew, what the heck was that about?”  Then, a few mornings ago I wake up with clear signs of a bladder infection, which over the years I’ve learned to treat with pure cranberry juice and water.  I’ve been doing that for a few days now and guess what just popped up again?  Another herpes outbreak in yet a 3rd location. This has NEVER happened. It feels as if my body fighting off one infection/virus after another.  I have pretty much convinced myself that I have contracted HIV from my recent “contact” with this guy.  I had a western blot done in January as part of a physical exam and it was negative.  Does all of this sound normal for a person who would have just contracted the disease in February?  I’m also wondering if I should get a rapid test at a clinic this soon or should I wait a little longer?  I will of course get a western blot if the rapid comes back positive, but I just don’t know how soon to get the rapid test. I should also mention that I have Multiple Sclerosis and I had written all of this off as a possible relapse or exacerbation of the MS but I have had MS for 4 years and relapses have never come in the form of infections…just neurological stuff.  Thanks for any help.

Hi Blazin , I'm assuming the sex you had was unprotected vaginal or anal sex ?

If the answer is yes , then you have had a risk and need to test for HIV . You can do so 6 weeks past any possible exposure and again at three months to confirm the result .

Your long list of symptoms are not specific only to HIV so we will not discuss symptoms because the only way to know your HIV status is to test , not by second guessing symptoms . Best of luck to you .
