Well I took my Clanazopam about an hour before my eye appointment today... I was ready.. I walked from Aspen Mountain to the Opthomologist in a blinding blizzard (of course in my tiva's). Saying alot of prayers on the way..

I was greeted by 3 very nice women who took very good care of me and were all very interested in how it was being hiv positive in this day and age.. I then told them I was gay and married to a beautiful man. But they still kept after me

.. We did all the tests that I was use to and they were so touchy feely with me... I love that kind of treatment... I do... Dr. came in and asked me about how my disease was and the drugs I was taking. He spent a good hour pushing on my eye ball and shining super bright red and blue lights into the depths of my cranium. He told me Eric... Your eyes are doing great and are just showing the normal wear a 43 year old would show in spite of the fact of your recent diagnosis. And I might add, you sure do not look 43 more like 33.... Ok, whats this all about! "Eric you know, I just do not see the amount of problems I use to in eye HIV complications I use to. Be glad for that my friend."

I walked out with new prescription for my accounting work and another one for driving and watching mooovies and such. They wanted to see if I would be interested in transitional's and I told them not right yet.. I don't wana flip out on glasses just yet. Contacts? Naw, not yet... I feel so relieved that everything is good in the eyeball department... Breath and I am so thankful to have this over with. I have made standing appointments now every year from here on out.

Everybody wished me well at the office and it was just a positive experience for me... Thank God..

I wanted to personally thank all of my family here for giving me the strength to face another one of my phobias..

Actually I am 43 also, but I have the eyes of a 93-year old.

Glad everything was fine on your visit...I had one last year when my cd4 was well below 100, just to make sure CMV hadn't popped up.

The worst part was wearing the old lady wraparounds on the drive home...damn, i bet with all that snow you were really having problems.

I'm just tickled about this being over with... The Dr. was really not that cute, but I know he is a noted mountain climber and I could see those thighs and abs poking out. I was a bit fucked up when he asked me to look up and then look down and I kept looking down..

Then I forgot how to look right then left... Nervous I guess.

Yes Rod, You told me so and I have that hat out you told me to eat....

You guys will never see me in my spectacles!!!! At least on line that is!!!!

Woo Hoo -- glad your fears were laid to rest. I knew it was going to be the "mature eyes" thing. Apparently you've spent many of your 43 years looking really hard at things. Hmmmm... maybe a couple of words should be rearranged there

I'm glad you are SEEing just fine! Can't blame you for putting off the progressives for a bit, they're quite aggravating. I've worn contacts off an on over the years, but just can't get anything to work so that I can do desk work. I've tried it with bi-focal contacts, mono vision (one near, one far) and with wearing only one lens....still can't see to read.

I look like one of those bobble head dashboard dolls, trying to find the right spot to look through on my specs....

That's a brilliant story! I'm glad your appointment went well. It's always nice when the doctor's office staff gets kitteny, you know they deal with lots of people... and when they treat you like that... it makes it all the more special.

And you have the eyesight of a 33 year old? You lucky bastard!

Mono vision works for me. After I was fitted with contacts for the first time I had a difficult time getting used to them and I still needed reading glasses. Something about my eyes being to far out of whack one from the other to get contacts that cover everything. Anyway, I started using just one contact at a time and switched wearing the contact from one eye to the other every few months. I can't believe how well this works. If your not having any problems, good for you cause by the time I was 43 my eyes were having problems with astigmatism.

Glad to hear it was a non-event !! Definitely a hottie, so I know how the women feel...

I have 20/20 for distance but up close require glasses for reading and for working on my computer. Unfortunately, those two presecriptions are very different. After getting glasses, I discovered that I was constantly taking them on and off during the day so I now have transitional lenses where the top part is 20/20 and the middle is for the computer and the bottom is for reading. Sounds complicated but you adapt on the first day.

Seriously, vision is nothing to screw around with. The doc, well, that's another story.

I wear the transitions. Love em. Took a little while to get used to doing things like walking down stairs, but they're great.

Wore contacts to more than 20 years. Now my eyes are too dry. Go figure.

Hey Benj, looks like you and I have something in common. The last time they checked, my vision was 20/720. I feel for you - or at least I would if given half a chance.

Im really grinning alot this morning..... I power on my computer at work, just about ready to get to work on next years budget shit... I go to grab my glasses, guess what? I gave them BOTH pairs of glasses cuz I was so giddy yesterday so they could fix the script on both of them.... Sooooo.... I am bumping my Excel up to 200% zoom and Ive got gigantic hair when I look at Marks Avatar.. I guess I can deal with this for 5 days or so.... Im so stupid... I will NEVER barrow my bosses 6 inch magnifying glass, NEVER, NOPE.....

All of these different ways of looking at things is pretty knifty... I am sure I will be learning more about mono / transisions... Cant wait to figure out the hearing aids in another 20 or so.... Metalica was not good to me..

I have always had great eyesight ( I was going to say vision, but realized I get some attacks-lol). It's starting to get fuzzier lately, but I'm blaiming Aidsmeds ( too much time spent here reading). Can I sue??

I am sure somwhere in the by-laws there is something about reading aidsmeds 24/7 - 365 days a year... I forget where I read it but I think it was around the flame bait statute or there abouts.. It says "dont" do that... But its in really really fine print..
