Hello everyone,

Last monday I had oral and anal sex with a female. During the anal part I was wearing a condom but took it off during the oral part in the end. She said that she had been with a person who was HIV+ and now this is freaking me out. What are the chances of me getting HIV if she had gotten it from the previous person?

I would really appriciate any comments or thoughts on this....thanks.

Your chances are zero. You didn't have a risk. You had protected sex and you can't get infected by receiving a blowjob.

All we can do is to keep telling you the same thing. Receiving a blowjob is nil for HIV risk to you. There's never been a documented case of transmission in that manner. It's safe to say you won't make history by becoming the first.

If you haven't already done so, take a few minutes and read our lesson on Transmission. There's a link to it in the Welcome thread which opens this section. All the basics you need to know are there.

Always use a latex condom for intercourse, whether vaginal or anal, and you'll be well "covered" as far as HIV risk is concerned.

Intel,

I may as well chime in here too and say that you didn't have a risk. Getting a blowjob is NOT a risk, and condoms have been proven to prevent hiv infection.

You need to be using condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, every time, no exceptions until such time as you are in a securely monogamous relationship where you have both tested for ALL STIs together. To agree to have unprotected intercourse is to consent to the possibility of being infected with a sexually transmitted infection. Sex with a condom lasts only a matter of minutes, but hiv is forever.

Have a look through the condom and lube links in my signature line so you can use condoms with confidence.

Anyone who is sexually active should be having a full sexual health care check-up, including but not limited to hiv testing, at least once a year and more often if unprotected intercourse occurs.

If you aren't already having regular, routine check-ups, now is the time to start. As long as you make sure condoms are being used for intercourse, you can fully expect your routine hiv tests to return with negative results. Don't forget to always get checked for all the other sexually transmitted infections as well, because they are MUCH easier to transmit than hiv.

Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse correctly and consistently and you will avoid hiv infection. It really is that simple!

i've been having diahreea for the past 2 days, and some say that can be a sign....should i be worried about this?

Reread the replies that you have been given. You didn't have a risk. Whatever is going on with you is unrelated to HIV.

Intel, between here and the grave, hopefully in the far, far distant future you are going to have all sorts of physical things occur.

That doesn't change the fact that you were not in anyway at risk for HIV in this incident.

You need to discuss any physical concerns with your doctor.

This is NOT an HIV situation so get over it. No kidding.

Why are you asking us our opinion if you are going to ignore our replies??? You had zero risk, period. As far as your diareah and sore throat and whatever, big deal...you never had any of this before? And finally, remember that stress can cause many physiological manifestations. So get a grip, and move on.

trust me im trying to move on and keep telling myself i have nothing but its hardly working....im one of those big paranoid ppl ....i just cant wait for the 6week period so i can go get tested and see what my fate is

i just had a question about testing and the antibodies.....they say wen you do the ELISA test it checks for antibodies and my questions is what if the body has developed antibodies for something else that is happening on your sysytem (say another diesease)...will that make the ELISA test provide wrong results?

also im thinking of getting tested just to reasure myself and so far it has been 24 days....should i really wait for the 6 week period?

It will not.

Only a test taken at the appropriate time will conclusively tell you your HIV status. That being said, based on your "risk", you dont need to test at all unless you've never had one and then it's a good idea to do at your yearly check up anyway!

intelpro32, each antibody is very specific for each disease, so ELISA will recognize the ones for HIV and ignore the other ones that are in your body

hi everyone,

if you test after the 6 weeks period would that be final to determine your status? i wana move on but before i do, i wana know for sure that my status is negative do i really have to wait for the 13week period?

No, that is not the final test. Your conclusive test is 13 weeks. Read the lesson on testing. You can find the link in the "Welcome" thread.

well reading some of the other threads in here....it shows that you can get HIV from just unprotected oral.....tomorrow is the 6 week mark for me and tuesday im going to get tested and hopefully there is someone up there who really likes me.... $:-\$

You may have read claims, but you didn't read any factual information that anyone got infected by unprotected oral.

today was the 6 week mark and i went and got tested and thank god it come Negative. the test was called OraQuick and it was a rapid test, which checked for both hiv1/2 and i had to wait 20min for the results. Anyone familiar with this test and teh accuracy?

The OraQuick is an approved, reliably accurate test.

There isn't one person on this website who claims to have gotten infected through GETTING a blowjob, and you won't be the first. GETTING a blowjob is absolutely NOT a risk for hiv and your test result is NOT going to change.

You ARE hiv negative and it's time you moved on with your life.
