Update / Starting Meds This Week
« on: March 01, 2008, 04:42:04 pm »
Hello Everyone,

Just wanted to give a quick update.  I am still undergoing chemo treatments. As you may remember, I found out I had KS on the soles of my feet and was unable to walk for the majority of last year.  The treatments are working well.  I am able to walk normal again.  I had lost alot weight, I went from 180lbs to 135lbs before seeking medical help.  I am now at a weight of 150lbs since starting chemo. I am 5'11 height.  Hopefully, I will gain my old weight back.  I have gone from a size 34/36 waist to a size 32 waist and I am unable to fit my old clothes.

I start hiv meds this week. I am scheduled to meet with a nurse educator Wednesday and go over how to take the medications.  I will be taking Kaletra, Viread, and Emtriva. Does anyone have any experience with this combo?

I know everyone responds differently but was curious how others may have handled any side effects.

On a final note, I want to thank everyone for your posts and the people that run this site.  It has made the last few months alot easier to handle.  I am able to speak with nurses, doctor, medical staff and ask questions while understanding most of the answers especially when they are speaking in medical terms and using abbreviations.  I wish I found this site years ago. Thank you all.

Hi Coco-
Glad to hear your chemo treatments are going well and that you are gaining weight back.  I don't have any advice for you combo of meds, but I wanted to wish you luck.  Stay strong!
Take care,
Snow

Coco, glad you're getting better and things are looking up.

I don't have any experience with your prescribed meds, but anything has to be better than doing nothing.  Good luck.

Hey Coco, good to see a post from ya.  Haven't seen one in quite awhile.  I'm really glad the chemo is working.  About the meds, check this out and see if it helps:
