ever had a rock in your shoe? thats what it feels like under my toe. rationally, i look at my foot, nothing is out of the ordinary. put my foot on the ground and take a step. feels like a nail gun shooting from the inside out, against the rock that is surely lodged right there under my big toe. so i look again. still no rock. step off again, leg goes wonky and makes all sorts of unnecessary twitches

i'm going to remove the toe, but it did seem like an option for minute

Hey Zach,

You didn't mention which toe hurts and all I can think of is if the toe suffered some trauma, like stubbing it, or if there is a small item lodged in the bottom of the toe that pokes you, each time you try to walk.

welcome to the club Zach, I have the some kind of pain in both toes and feet, it gets worse (the pain) when your big toe drop...good luck

I think what he is feeling is an effect from peripheral neuropathy. I get horrible pain in all of my toes, but it can be much worse and a different feeling in my large toes -- Digit #1 in podiatry.

Imagine your toe feeling like it's swollen to the size of a grapefruit (in your head, but not visibly swollen) while simultaneously feeling like a rusty spike has been inserted from the toe nail up to your ankle. Mine then makes the entire "inner longitudinal arch" feel like some has hit it hard with a baseball bat ten time.

I think for zach his neuropathy might, over time, resolve itself because it's more likely the kind of neuropathy from acute HIV infection, whereas mine is from a combination of long-term HIV infection, toxic meds from the 1990's no longer used, and hereditary high arch issues that have nothing to do with HIV.

Zach, are you taking anything at all for neuropathy pain?

i have piles of gabapentin that i stopped taking. neuro appt in november, and another mri sometime between now and then.

big toe drop, i haven't heard it called that, but am new to this game. i get a jolt from my ass down the back of my leg, feels like it hits in my toe and my foot will curl in and my leg will jerk. more left leg but its happens both sides. different than the constant tingling pins and needles

drop toe? (I'm not sure if it is spell like this) hope you guy understand me, English is my second language
some years ago,like 10, I was walking in my house without shoes, and I tripped with something, after looking around on the floor, I did not see anything, so I kept doing my stuff, several day later, again walking without shoes, it happened again, I tripped again, nothing on the floor, so I look at my foot (left) and I noticed my big toe wasn't aligned with the rest of the other toes, my big toe looked like a little bit lower than the rest of the toes...so when I saw my ID doctor I showed him my big toe, he said that is caused by neuropathy...a year later or so, my right's foot toe, dropped too...now, it's more painful to walk, because you feel your toe like Miss Phelicia said, and the bone under you big toe, is having more friction with the sole of your shoe, causing you calloses (sorry I hope you understand this world)...so xach, I don't know what kind of problems someone without a toe might have, I guess that is why we have ten toes....;p

and yeah ms p, it feels like swinging an estwing on a 16d, its awesome
