Welcome to the 21st century, San Antonio!
« on: September 05, 2013, 05:00:59 pm »
I'm pleased to announce that San Antonio's city council finally adopted language against discrimination for the LGBT community. They were the only large municipality in uber-conservatard TexASS to not have this. Houston, Dallas, Austin, Fort Worth, El Paso... all did it years ago.

Ok. I am going to try and be nice and not sound like some blue state liberal snob (not that that's ever stopped me before).

Congratulations to the San Antonio city council for doing whats right.  It's about fifty years late but better late than never.  The fact that three of your council members voted no is shocking.

I'm waiting for a red state (a really red state, like Georgia or Texas) to finally do something right and vote in marriage equality or marijuana or something.

Actually, I heard that the state of Arizona will be voting on mariage equality next year, yes red state Arizona.  Granted its west coast red but its still red.  Could be start.

I will say its hard being from blue land and reading things like this and not criticizing.  It's hard to understand how the people are letting these things just not happen.  It's a completely different culture (its like we live in completely different countries<<<<).

There sure are a lot of hate groups in the Seattle area , granted not as many as where I live but some of the most vicious seem to be in the Northeast .

Really? A lot.  We have 4 in the Seattle area and 13 statewide.  Our population is 7million people.  Alabama has a population of 4 million and you have more than twice as many as we do.  You have 30!!! FAIL

Pennsylvania would need 144 such groups to equal that number since our population is ~12 million.

So what's your point?  That there are racist people in Seattle?   I could have told you that.  I've never said there aren't nor did I infer such in my post.

Besides I thought we were talking about city governments passing lgbt legislation.  If you want to compare what each of our cities and states have done on that front be my guest. I will put Seattle and the state of Washington up against Alabama, Texas, or even Massachusetts any day.  Bring it!

Poor thing -- Guilhermina doesn't realize that the Northeast US has only 20% of the country's population but accounts for 23% of the US GDP. I wonder what section is underperforming?

So your not fond of even the hint of people disparaging your admittedly wonderful place where you live but seem all to happy to sling a little mud where others choose to live . I thought you might have reacted that way and you didn't disappoint . Point made . I love Seattle .

Louisville has had LGBT protections, since around 2000.  Lexington beat us to it.  And, KY has the smallest town in America to adopt the protections.  Before Louisville merged city and county government, only the city of Louisville had it.  When we merged, they had to revote on it, to include what use to be the county government.
