Less is best this Thanksgiving

Happy holidays.
Every year i get to make the thanksgiving dinner.
This year i thought i would spend it alone, as my kids had plans and mom is not with us anymore.
My son Canceled his plans, and just wanted to hang out at home today.

I got up early and was making coffee, in "the dreaded Atripla fog" , and errrr.
 the kitchen was spotless, Counters all clear, dishes all done.
( my son cleaned the kitchen)
I did pinch myself and looked again, spotless.
Ready for old Lucas to destroy.

The dinner was on a much smaller scale than previous years.
14 pound bird, not 18. Only one roaster of stuffing not 3 pans of it.
Only 3 pounds of potato's to peel and mash ,not 10 pounds.
Only a dozen rolls not 3 dozen. green beans ,and a fresh baked pumpkin pie.

Yesterday i was dreading today,and the holidays.
Today was better than i thought it would be.
I did clean out a closet and polished 3 guitars. ( a labor of love).
I did play some guitar, Chatted with friends on the phone.
A little crack of light,..... at the far end of a very dark tunnel.

I just want to take a minute to wish all my friends here a safe and happy holiday weekend.
Enjoy your family, and give your mom a big hug from me.

Sounds like a pretty sweet Thanksgiving to me!  Glad you got to enjoy it with your son.

Lucas my friend, it's a sweet feeling to see that little light at the end of the tunnel and know that this time, it's not a train! We had a nice low-key Thanksgiving, too, just very good friends cooking and cackling and drinking a little...and Curtis' Mississippi Mud Pie was da bomb!

I'm glad your Holiday turned out to be pleasant.

I did not cook this year as the boys are all involved in their new families and careers. I put vegetables and a chicken in the crock pot for 4 hours. The meat fell off the bones and it was delicious.

Then, to our surprise, Robert, Katie's oldest son, stopped by with 'plates' from their dinner...definitely something new and unexpected.
