Three weeks ago I fooled around with another guy. We were just masturbating, but then he began fingering my anus. I asked him to stop because I wasn't comfortable doing it, but he continued until finally I had to pull away. I am so nervous he had some of his precum in my anus and now I have HIV. As soon as I left, I gently patted the area to see if it was bleeding, and it wasn't.

However, a few days ago I started having a sore throat and runny nose. I also have been having diarrhea for two days. I have had no rashes or fever.

Please  help! I am so nervous and will definitely be getting tested when the time window is right. I am just driving myself crazy now and I want to cry. I should have never let that happen.

You can relax because you did not have a risk for HIV . The risk factors for HIV are as follows ...

Sharing IV drug needles immediately after use.
Unprotected anal and vaginal sex.
Mother to child during or shortly after birth
Very specific healthcare situations.

Fingering is not a risk , even if the guy was HIV positive and he had semen on his fingers it wouldn't have been a risk because HIV is extremely fragile and becomes instantly damaged when exposed to oxygen rendering it unable to infect .

ALTHOUGH YOU DO NOT NEED HIV TESTING AT THIS TIME for this incident , anyone who is sexually active should be having a full sexual health care check-up, including but not limited to hiv testing, at least once a year and more often if unprotected intercourse occurs.

If you aren't already having regular, routine check-ups, now is the time to start. As long as you make sure condoms are being used for intercourse, you can fully expect your routine hiv tests to return with negative results.

Don't forget to always get checked for all the other sexually transmitted infections as well, because they are MUCH easier to transmit than hiv. Some of the other STIs can be present with no obvious symptoms, so the only way to know for sure is to test.

Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, and you will avoid hiv infection. It really is that simple!

I am going crazy here. I made a horrible choice about three months ago. I had met up with a guy I didn't know very well and cheated on my partner.  We were just masturbating each other at first, but then he began fingering me. I yelled at him and he pulled out after going in for about 20 seconds.

Now, I am so stricken with guilt. I want to cry. I am so worried he used some precum when fingering me or had a cut in his finger, but I have no idea. I know when we were masturbating I never saw him precum. After leaving his place, I checked the region and did not see any bleeding. I was sore though.

A week after the encounter, I had a hemorrhoid, something I've never had before. It was very itchy. I had been feeling constipated before, but I immediately tied it to the meeting.

Three weeks later, I got sick. My nose was running nonstop and I could barely breathe. About three days into my sickness, I had diarrhea for two days. Note that the girl next to me at work was sick with a cold. I'm not sure if she had stomach issues. At the same time, I got a few itchy patches on my skin for six weeks. I have very sensitive skin, but I keep thinking "why was this all tied together around the same time?" Six weeks later, my jaw was sore and swollen.

Four weeks after I was sick, my partner had the same nasal cold. He also had diarrhea after a dinner, but it only lasted for the night. Then, he got a strange rash (like red lines, no bumps or itchiness) on his calves that eventually went away. The rash is what I keep thinking about, because while we both do have sensitive skin, I haven't seen that rash before. I just get nervous since he had a rash and I had itchy patches of skin.

I am so worried and I want to break down. I've convinced myself I got HIV from this man and passed it on to my partner. I don't know what to do. I'm scared to get tested because I don't know what a positive test would mean for us. I keep convincing myself the situation was extremely risky even though I'm not sure he used his precum. I know the best thing is to come clean to my partner. Do you think this was a high risk encounter? I cannot stop googling, I can't stop crying, and it's taking over my life.

You never had an exposure.

HIV is unable to reproduce outside its living host (unlike many bacteria or fungi, which may do so under suitable conditions), except under laboratory conditions; therefore, it does not spread or maintain infectiousness outside its host.

HIV is transmitted by;
Unprotected penetrative anal and/or vaginal sex
Sharing works with other IV drug users
Mother to child

You didn't have a risk for HIV , that we know . The only way to know if you have been infected with an STD is to test and not by symptoms .

You were told in September that you didn't have a risk for hiv through being fingered and our answers are NOT going to change.

If you feel unwell, go see a doctor. Whatever is going on has NOTHING to do with hiv - unless you were hiv positive long before this fingering incident. When was the last time you tested, if you've ever tested at all? Far too many people only assume they're hiv negative.
