AMG 2007 Social Hours
« on: July 31, 2007, 10:40:41 pm »
Due to the lack of bar or lounge at the Powell Hotel, this years Social Hours will be held in the hotel's mezzanine on Saturday and Sunday.  We are permitted to supply our own beverages so a makeshift bar will erected.

This is where I need everyone's help.  I'm putting together my shopping list and need to know what everyone's beverage of choice is.  Nothing fancy please.  What I pretty much need is an idea of what brand of beer the majority drinks, red or white wine, non alcoholic beverages (water, soda's, juices), etc?  Liquors (rum, vodka, etc)?

I'll do my best to accommodate as many tastes as possible.

Thanks
Dennis

well, I can't drink wine.  FIrst it was red.  Then white.  NOw it's all the sparkling ones too. Something to do with 'sulfites' I'm told.

So count me among the politically incorrect and put me down for Coors.  Unless you have the makings for a vodka martini with a twist.

Coke Zero

Maybe if anyone has any connections to a wine liquor distributor or soda distributor to check and see if any of these beverages could be donated to us. It's an idea... When I worked at Target we donated stuff all the time to groups & organizations. Just a thought. & Some nibly things would probably be a good idea... Simple stuff chips/dips, pretzels, nuts .

I would be more than happy to help set up & take down the bar before and after the social hours if you need any help with that or help with clean up...

If you want me to stay awake late - still water.
If you want me to stay awake but giggle a lot - white wine and soda or Pimms and lemonade.
If you want to end up carrying me unconscious to my room - anything else alcoholic.

Miss Melia ;D
(whose alcohol tolerance is below zero - ask those who have met me!)

Edited to add:
PS: Please provide nibbles such as crisps/chips to minimize likelihood of Melia passing out. Preferably salt and vinegar anything or Sensations Thai sweet chilli... ;) :D :-*

Water is just fine with me, not a drinker here.

But if I do have to choose a beverage, it would be...

Manhattans or G & Ts.

I'll probably just have a little something available in my room  ::) to bring with me (is that allowed?) though, cause it'd be way too hard to do much beyond what you've already mentioned (beer and wine I mean).  Keep it simple buddy, that's my advice.

RAB   ;D

Edit to ask:  Is there a Safeway anywhere near?  (I know there's one on Market down near Castro--or there used to be.)

TA and I are vodka drinkers.  Like Rab, we always have some in our room, so we can bring our own if that is allowed.  We are both nibblers, like nuts.  OMG, did I say that?  Ric

Beer or Wine (along with non-alcoholic) should suffice.  Like others', I will probably have something (see below) in the room (Vodka or Tequila).
And I'm glad to see that there are some tokers among the group!

Not sure but beer is always a safe bet for me, I too may have something in the room...and I would be happy to pick up some nibbles as well. I wanted to ask about food/convenience/liquor stores in the area anyway.

Hey Dennis,

Thanks for asking... I will be driving most nights and would be happy with non-alcoholic for most of the time and maybe some domestic beer or some local wine.  I will be staying in SF on Pub Crawl so on those evenings, all bets are off.  ;D ;D ;D Have the best day

Beer- Coronas.  Vodka is usually my liquor of choice (need juices...cranberry/OJ).  Wine- I don't care (maybe some champagne).  Nonalcoholic/chemical.....coke.   ;)

How is this being funded (i.e., do we need to pay in advance so that you can buy the drinks)?

No need to pay in advance.  A "donation" of $1 per drink or something like that is requested to help cover expenses.

In a word:  beer.  I'm not particular.

This is very thoughtful of you -- above and beyond the call of duty, IMHO.

Thanks,

Henry
