Help! I feel like my body is vibrating!
« on: February 16, 2014, 05:30:07 pm »
it started a few months ago, slight and off and on only noticed it at night.

last night it was really bad. i couldn't sleep.
it was like the bed was shaking but it was me!
 I wasn't moving.
It was coming from inside.
of course i was afraid and my heart was then going pretty fast.

anyone else?

What a long strange trip it's been

I have had this happen as well and its disconcerting to say the least . I mean to ask the doctor about but keep forgetting . It doesn't seem to be fatal and that is something to hang your hat on LOL .

Guitargal;

I have had somewhat similar feelings, although not extreme enough to effect my heart.  I notice it when I am transitioning to a relaxing state, such as going to bed. I haven't been concerned about it - maybe I should be...?

Just out of curiosity what meds are you on?

Best,
JM

This post is interesting.  I've had very similar feelings.  And, it does seem to happen at night, when I'm winding down.  It feels like my body is vibrating.  At first, I thought there was a small earthquake.  I almost posted about it, but thought people would think I'm crazy and a hypochondriac.  It doesn't happen all the time or anything, but every once in a while.

I have no idea whether it is anxiety or somehow virus related.  I've noticed I often have all my muscles tensed, even when I'm not feeling especially anxious.  Do you have anxiety issues?

myoclonic spasms?

Aren't those the muscle jerks, which happen to many as they are falling asleep?  This vibration feeling is different from those.  But, perhaps it is part of that same thing.

Mine don't include the heart but definitely have periodic body (every week or two) vibrations.

hypnic and myoclonic twitches or spasms both occur in the sort of in between sleep and consciousness. i'm no doctor, or even an expert, but i have experienced them both as a massive body jolt, and muscular flutters/vibrations. they can be the bodies way of releasing excess electricity and tension. i'm not saying either is definitively what the OP is experiencing (hence the question mark) only that it sounds similar

or, does OP live in SC or GA? we did have a couple earthquakes last couple days.

I noticed the same thing after diagnosis.  I tried to explain it to my doctor as it being like my innards were moving around like the little aliens inside the eggs in the movie Alien. That of course sent her into this whole speech on how I was NOT an alien. Oh Brother, doctors....

I think it's some kind of reaction to the HIV or medications, I'm not sure but it happens to me.  Sometimes I reach for something and get quakes and flutters or just at rest I feel like I could jump out of my skin. Even a couple times I thought my heart wasn't beating / working properly.

Doctors seem useless on this so I simply take a Xanax when I get the quakes, it usually calms me down. A headache triggers it too thus making me nauseous and then I get jittery.

Coffee seems to be a trigger too.

I'm newly dx, yet to start meds and drink coffee all day.
I also get these pounding heart things. It's totally random, and nothing seems to trigger it.
I could b watching tv, in a store, lying in bed, absolutely no rhyme or reason.
There r times when it seems so deep it's not from the heart it's like there's something thumping in my stomach and my whole upper body seems to rock.
I mentioned to dr. assistant but because it's so random a portable ekg is of no use.
I think it's poss dehydration.

This is correct and they are very normal -- hypnic jerks occur when you are falling asleep and most people have them, and they can even be quite "jolting" in severity. Myclonic can be indicative of neurological disorders: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Myoclonus

If you feel like your heart is doing weird things obviously the logical thing is to bring it up to your doctor. It's not like you folks don't go to one regularly.

Just curious if you've met with a cardiologist and ruled that out.  I experienced very similar issues prior to both of my myocardio infarctions.  When I started having the trembling feeling a few years ago, I PROMPTLY scheduled another cardiology appt where they discovered a 90% blockage that required a stint and a lengthy discussion about my horrid lipids.

Hope you get it figured out and it isn't too serious.

best wishes

vibrations have stopped for now. !

i did read that some  have same sensation during menopause. so hormonal? i am 52 years old now and still have periods pretty normal..

it was so strong i thought the bed was shaking and i woke , i was still, not moving. but vibrating.... heart fast  too...really odd.

life! what a trip eh?

i am hoping that if i EVER get done with menopause i will feel better over all.
funny as i read that hiv women have menopause early..

After talking to one of my clients, a dr, about my poor and picky diet, and these heart palpitation things as to what it could be.
Somehow he didn't realize I was referring to my symptoms and his response was either menopause or pregnancy.
Talk about a surprise, I was certain I had gone through manopause therefore canceling pregnancy, plus I'm all male in my 40's.
We laughed the rest of the way home.
