Question about the HIPP program
« on: June 25, 2011, 09:17:37 am »
HIPP = health insurance premium payment

This is a govt program which, if you are qualified for ADAP in your state, it would pay for your health insurance premiums as well as co lay for your meds.

I assume it is on a state by state basis and not all states have it available.

I am in Florida and my I am about to get on my employers insurance plan.   I am also currently on ADAP.

So I was wondering if anyone has heard of this here in Florida and more importantly is using it?

A friend of mine was on it here in FL while he was on COBRA or paying for an individual policy. He started working for a big company and there was no mechanism at the company to receive payments for an employees portion of their health care plan from a third party and the state fund would not reimburse him directly. You may want to check into this before going through the application process. Also, I understand there in now a long waiting list due to a lack of funding.

Now I am being told that ADAP themselves could possibly pay for both insurance premiums as well as co pays.

Anybody successfully transfer from ADAP to private insurance with ADAP covering your costs?
