Back from Byron
« on: February 21, 2007, 06:29:12 am »
Well, I made it home to Sydney, safe and sound.

Had a great time in Byron Bay. Byron is kinda hippy, kinda new age, kinda feral, kinda money. Spent most of my time, lazing on the beach, swimming, drinking and walking. We did this amazing 8.8 km walk/trek to the top of Mount Warning, about 1,150 metres above sea level.

Bah!

Matty the Damned lives 1100 metres above sea level every day! Albeit without the beach and a whole lot of spiders.

But the spiders are his friends. When he's not in his bare feet.

Little Steve, I can't believe you gave up the smoke filled pleasures of the Dolphin Hotel for the tawdry sun drenched paradise that is Northern NSW.

For Shame!!!

Wow Steve,

The photos are great. Mount Warning looks incredible!

By the way, the beach looks very festive!  ;)

Those pictures are absofuckinglutely beautiful!

As someone who has essentially spent his entire life at sea level, my ears pop and my lungs give out when I go to the second floor of a building... so climbing that mountain makes you quite hardcore in my opinion.

Awesome!

How fabulous Stevie! I sincerely hope to see your side of the world some day before I die. The bird life alone is enough, but your pics are just dreamy.

Hi Steve

I'm glad you had a great time in Byron...now I understand why you left the Dolphin early, now I can't stay mad at you for leaving us, but it did give matty and I the chance to talk about you.. ;)

BTW.. if I didn't know better I would have sworn those photo's were taken in NZ.

Glad you made it home safe and sound.

Hugs

Forget the spiders, Matty.

In my haste to post last night before I crashed, I neglected to relay my near death experience coming down from said Mountain.

It pissed down while we were at the top, so the decent was muddy and slippery. At one point, I slipped on a rock onto my inadequately cushioned arse (OUCH!) and slid down off the side of the track. That was OK, but as I was getting myself up, my mate told me to check out what was no more than 6 inches beneath were I stopped sliding - a small red-bellied black snake sunning itself on a rock. Another 6 inches and I'd most likely be dead, or fighting for my life, right now.

WOW.... Steven

I told you this before, but your looking fabulous.  Nice, fit and trim.  You're having a great summer.  And who is the mate?  WOW~~~Quite a bod he's got too.  Any more pictures?

I read your wikipedia about the Red-bellied Black Snake.  You are indeed lucky.  "Bites from Red-bellied Black Snakes are potentially lethal and require immediate medical attention."  It also says it is "... native to the East Coast of Australia; particularly in parts of... New South Wales.  Isn't that where you leave?  Forget the little black spiders.  Those snakes mean business.  Of course I'm not one to talk.  Rattlers abound around here.
