Condom slip.... very scared

Hi all,

I have read a lot about HIV now and I find this forum a very usefull and reliable source. I am writing this post because I am worried. I had 2 incidents with different CSW's last year of which I am worried about and if possible, I would like to have your opinion/advice on these incidents. I will also describe the symptoms that I have encountered, just to make my story complete. Also I will describe the tests that I have taken.

The first incident occurred on 16 October last year. I had oral sex and vaginal sex both with condom. However, during the vaginal sex the condom slipped upwards (I could sense the feeling), but at the end I discovered that the condom still covered the glance/head of my penis. The upslipping of the condom was caused by a softer penis. Although the head was still covered, I do not know if the inside of the foreskin was since I noticed a different sensation at moment. That sensation needed to come from somewhere

Then on 28 October I had another date with a CSW. I had oral sex and vaginal sex both protected and afterwards the CSW finished with a handjob without condom and a lubricate (potentionally having some vaginal fluids on her hands).

From this period on, I performed the following STD tests:
Nov 15: STD (chlamydia, ghonoroe, other bacteria) check based on urine. Result: Negative
Nov 15: Swab from papules on penis (Herpes and bacteria). Result: Negative
Dec 18: Full STD blood check (hepatitis A/B/C, HIV antibody and Syfillis). Result: Negative

From that period until now, I am experiencing different symptoms which made me worry a lot (I apologize for the long list):
Nov 3 - Nov 28: an occasional pimple on the head of my penis which did not itch or hurt. It were not sores, just small red papules that went off after 4 days. I had 6 of them over this period
Nov 5 - Nov 12: chills (no fever). Could be caused by stress
Nov 10 - Dec 16: Weird pressure arround the blatter area, but no increased frequency of urinating.
Nov 12 - Now: Mild sore throat that would not go a way (as if a cold does not get through). Doctor diagnosed as strep (no swab) on 18 dec. Tonsolitis cleared up, but the mild soreness stayed.
Dec 7 - Now: sore legs around the knees and lower back pains (stiffness). The feeling you have when you have walked 30 miles non-stop.
Jan 20 - Feb 2: Macolupapular rash on weird places: (inside of) my arms, top of my hands (including 1 on the finger), chest, belly, back legs, inside of feet. The rash looks like small red spots (diffuse), some have a papule, and some don't. The rash did not itch at all. The places where it appeared worries me and also the pattern (diffuse and non itchy).


A few questions I have related to this:

1) Do you think I was at risk for HIV (especially the first scenario)? If not, where do all the symptoms come from ?
2) My HIV anti body test result was negative at 9 weeks after possible exposure. Should I feel confident about this test?
3) Is it possible to get symptoms related to seroconversion (sore legs after 7 weeks, rash after 14 weeks)?

Ps: I am 29 years old, always been healthy, never did any drugs and of course always practising safe sex.

Condoms have been proven to prevent hiv infection. You didn't have a risk. When the condom slipped, it still covered the head of your penis and that is what needs to be covered.

If you're worried about symptoms, see a doctor. Whatever is going on has nothing to do with hiv.

You don't need further hiv testing over these specific incidents. You ARE hiv negative.

thank you very much for your reply. It is a true relief! Now I need to learn to put HIV out of my head and that will not be an easy thing to do... I hope I get through this.

Anyway, I learned a lot in the last few months, not only about HIV and safe sex, but also about the things that are important in my life.

You didn't have a risk. If you don't believe us, go get your three month negative confirmation and get on with your life.

Ps: I did not mean to offend you by asking Andy's opinion. It's just that I read in a few posts of Andy that the inside of the foreskin is a possible manner for HIV transmission. It moved my fears back up again...

It doesn't matter if you have a foreskin or not when you use condoms. YOU USED CONDOMS! You didn't have a risk.

I apologize for picking up this old thread, but I would like to ask some additional questions about thrush.

Since a few months (beginning of March), I am experiencing issues with my tongue. Often my tongue has white patches equally spread over my entire tongue (a little more at the back), but they are very very small. It seems like my taste buds have increased in length.
The whiteness of my tongue seems to be accompanied with different sensations on my tongue as well: it does not hurt, but it more feel like irritated or dryness of the tongue. I experience not issues while eating hot or spicy food.
I regularly use a tongue scraper which allows me to scrape it of. I have to scrape hard sometimes to get it of, but scraping it of does not hurt. After scraping it also decreases the irritation and dryness, but at the end of the day it returns.

Since this was bothering me and I had other issues with my gums, I went to see a dentist. At first the dentist told me it probably is a bacterial plaque and then he changed his mind that it could be a mild yeast infection. I was treated with Daktarin Oral Gel and it helped after a few days. After two weeks however, it turned back.

There is a lot of (dis)information on the internet about thrush, so I would like to know a few things about it:

- If thrush is not treated for months, does it gets worse or will it stay steady?
- Does thrush always hurt when scraping / eating hot or spice food?
- Can it be caused by prolonged stress?
- If thrush occurs, does it usually affect the tongue only? If have read information that the tongue is not the preferred "organ" to be affected by thrush. It usually also affects the palate, gums or inside of cheeks if the tongue is affected.
- If thrush has been treated, does it reoccur after two weeks? Or will it be more likely to reoccur after a few months?

If you're worried about your tongue, go back to your dentist. We cannot help you with it here.

You are correct, it is not an HIV issue. But since I saw many answers regarding thrush on this forum, I hoped to cut out the disinformation I have read on the internet. I will have a new appoint with my dentist. Meanwhile, may I ask you kindly to share your knowledge about the thrush questions?

You need a doctor or a dentist to diagnose if in fact you have thrush. We can't do that in this setting.

I can tell you that thrush is absolutely not an HIV-specific occurence. So even if you have it that doesn't have to alarm you about HIV.

Get it checked out in the proper professional setting.
