A conspiracy is only plausible if a small amount of people are initially involved in something, so no I never have believed any of the conspiracies you listed in the opening post.

btw, one of the best selling first 9/11 conspiracy books was actually by a French author, so there goes your tidy anti-American bias out the crapper.

The ones that spring to mind are the who shot jfk, who destroyed the twin towers , did man land on the moon etc.

1) JFK - sure maybe the mafia was involved.
2) Al Qaida terrorists.  Who profited by and got lucky with surprising lapses in American security.
3) yes

That's funny you mention Masons, Ms. P.  One of my Native American friends truly believes the Masons are out to destroy Native Americans and their culture.

I believe I've always heard he was buried in cement somewhere, like a street.  Maybe I'm thinking of the overpass.

When I saw the movie, "JFK" at a young age, I believed it was a conspiracy.  As I read more about it, I'm convinced we know the truth.  There was no magic bullet.  It has been proven over and over that you can be shot in the head from behind and your head go backwards.

As for 9/11, I saw the film, "Loose Change" and began believing it.  Then, I realized it was just like Katrina.  We had an inept president and terrible things happened.  Having said that, I still wouldn't put it past Cheney to allow the attack to happen.  It helped them out so much.  Dems gave into everything--although Dems usually don't need much reason to do that.  However, I don't believe they orchestrated it.  They weren't smart enough to do that.  And, they couldn't keep secret torture sites secret.  So, I believe it happened due to idiots in the WH who didn't hold one counter-terrorism meeting or take threats seriously.

As with all these things, there are things that cause people to think these things.  With 9/11 and the Pentagon, we only have that one security camera footage.  That building is surrounded by cameras and that is the only video they have?  There were reports that a hotel and gas station had footage, but the FBI quickly came and got it.  Then there's that picture at the Pentagon of something being carried off covered by a blue tarp.  And, the pics before the side of the building collapsed that only showed at 16 ft hole and no marks where the wings would have hit.  This led many to believe it was actually a missile.  Add that to pics of books on tables untouched, which looked more like other missile strikes than an airplane.  And, the hijackers were suppose to be really bad pilots.  How they got that plane down to ground level to hit the Pentagon without crashing into the ground first also causes people to think that way.

So, there are things that seem really strange to me.  It was strange to me that Bush/Cheney fought an investigation and only gave in when victim's families protested.  They wouldn't testify under oath and Cheney had to be in the room with Bush and there could be no record of what they said besides some basic notes.  However, I just don't believe something that huge could be covered up.  Plus, how do they explain what happened to the people on the plane.  Taken to secret prisons I guess is their thought.  But I can totally see why people believe these things.  There are many strange things about 9/11 and JFK.  But, that probably happens in many things.

I'm surprised that no one has mentioned a pretty obvious one: AIDS is a biological weapon manufactured in the developed world to wipe out certain groups of "undesirable" people.

Conspiracy theories were only cool in the mid-90s when Mulder and Scully still had a TV show.  I for one can't bring myself to believe most (if any) of this caca.

There is a secret cabal that controls the AIDSmeds forums. These people don't really have HIV, they just pretend they do so they can spread misinformation and make infected people feel even worse about themselves. They are funded by Glenn Beck, Exxon Oil and Marie Osmond.

I wanted to say that, but the 7BQ prefer to make everyone believe that they don't exist at all.

Rev, I had totally forgotten about that one.  I remember when I first tested positive, hearing that Pasteur had manufactured the virus in the polio vaccine, which he tested in Africa.  And you know something?  For awhile, that held my interest.

I'm sure there are things that won't ever be fully explained, like who was really behind JFK's murder.  But to buy into these ridiculous notions, of everything in life being a set-up, well, that's a bit lame, at least to me.  I think it's because humans want everything to have a concrete reason, because we don't like to admit we don't know everything about everything.  If that makes sense.

illegal?

And how was Dodi going to be "on the throne" if he married Diana, who technically wasn't even royal at that point, having been stripped of the HRH title.

::sigh::

This is soooo fulla FAIL --from the "wouldnt of gone" (dew joo peek inglis?), to the lack of knowledge as to how your own monarchy works, to the bigoted comment on "illegal Arabs".  Some heads should actually think before posting.

There no need to get personel or insulting. I refer to a previous racistist comment. I agree that Dianna was definately embarrassing the rest of the Royal family, but you reaaly need to phrase things with a little more care!!

If you're referring to your comment about the "illegal Arab" as being a joke, then you're right -- the board doesn't take racist yelps like that lightly, nor should it.  Why don't you actually explain what you meant by that instead of running away from it.

A couple other fun conspiracy theories are:
Chem trails from airplanes and flu vaccinations that are slowly culling the US.
The Bildeberg Group controlling the world, and attending the Bohemian Grove in Cali.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bohemian_Grove

Morgellen's disease is contracted by Avian water.  This is a real disease and freaking scary as heck.

My real point is that conspiracy theories are not just the US.  One of the biggest sites is run by two swedes.  Many of the folks on the site are indeed Brits.

Ok, so I have a lot of radio time on my hands when I'm working  :D

You mean Evian water, from France?
You know, if you go to Evian, that water flows out of the pipes in public fountains 24hours a day, you can fill your bottles for free :) (not an urban legend).

Yes, Evian.  I'm one coffee short of a complete thought or proper spelling :)

I can't believe that it's for free public consumption.  Poland Springs certainly isn't a proponent of free springs, more like free enterprise.
