New lung diagnostic technology

Because people with HIV have an increased risk of lung cancer1 I thought people might be interested in this new diagnostic technology. I'm pleased that it does not use radiation.

That's interesting -- they seemed to be promoting its use for pneumonia too. 

How much do the machines cost though, versus an xray machine?

That would be good for HIV offices to have in order to check lungs for pneumonia or cancer.  I hope it works and makes it into offices. 

I recently posted that study about lung cancer in the research forum.  I quit smoking when I found out I was poz--well, really because I had strep-pneumonia and couldn't breathe very well for several weeks.  If not for the pnuemonia, I'm sure I'd still be smoking.  However, the research about non-smoking HIVers getting lung cancer was depressing.  If its not one thing, its another.  However, this device could possibly save many lives.
