Started my meds today.... Never been sick at all or any OI's since being poz. Background info if interested... 33 and a half years old. hiv poz since age 28 or for 5 and a half years now and have never needed or taken meds until today.  viral load was always 5 to 40 thousand and t cells always 350 to 600 for almost 5 and a half years... then in january 2008 t cells 268/21% and viral load shot all the way up to 131000. march t cell 231/21% Viral load 261000. So time for meds, I got my perscription filled 4 days ago. Was nervous to begin so waited till the weekend when friends and family would be off from work to be around me. Took my first pills about 9 hours ago. Nothing has happened at all. So far it's like I took advil or a multi vitamin. Not one thing happened and I was very nervous that something would but nothing so far! I am taking 3 pills once a day and my regemine is: Reyataz 300-mg, Norvir 100mg, and Epzicom. 1 pill each. So far so good with nothing to report in the way of side effects on this first day... hope this continues as I will be taking these pills now everyday. And here I was SO worried about starting meds and side effects and am amazed that not one little side effect has happened.

Congrats on doing so well with the meds, I know it can be crazy, wondering how one will react.  You might want to get some Imodium, though, just in case.  Isn't the Norvir the one that can cause diarrhea?

Hey J,

Congratulations! I hope the meds continue to be as worry frree for you as they are right now.

I found Reyataz a very easy drug to take. The Norvir is a low dose meant to boost the Reyataz, so it shouldn't cause the problems taking the therapeutic dose did for so many.

I've never had any experience with Epzicom, but I know several people taking it and they have had not problems as a result.

Again, keep up the good work and let us know what the next set of labs show.

HUGS,

Mark

Yeah I know, it's almost a disappointment when nothing happens.

I did the same thing, waited for the weekend, stocked up on Imodium, then. . . nothing.  It's been three weeks now.  I hope it continues well for you.

It is day 2 and still nothing to report in side effects.  I'll keep u posted if i ever do have any side effects and yes I will also post my upcoming labs to see what the hiv-drugs did on the numbers front.
