Breaching the blood brain barrier

Interesting article on a way to temporally open the barrier to treat the brain for many problems. HIV being one of those things that it could be beneficial to treat.

Interesting indeed. I wonder if you would have to be very careful of what you ingested or breathed in during the eighteen hours the "window" is open? The article says there's still a lot more research to do on the safety of this drug, so maybe that's one of the things they still have to figure out.

Also, if you're taking this to get hiv meds into the brain, I suppose you'd have to take it all the time to prevent resistance developing in the hiv in the brain? For example, to sustiva because of the long half-life and it being trapped in the brain after the Truvada components are used up. Does that make any sense?
