Title: unprotected sex due to condom broke
Post by: needsuggestion on January 25, 2009, 07:35:28 am
Hi,

i am new to this forum i am from India, first of all thanks to all for providing valuable info on HIV transmissions.

let me explain my problem

I had sex with a prostitute on 16th Oct 2008, i used "Moods" condom.
first i had sex with her by entering vagina from front me on top of her.
after having stimulation for 2 Min's i exhausted which i did not noticed till she informed me.
i observed that my condom was good and not broken. we both washed clearly and once again started
after 10 minutes, this time also i used condom (new one) and had vagina sex from back side.
we had sex for about 5 to 6 Min's. after this when i removed out
my pennies from her vagina i observed that condom was broken and
condom was entirely came back towards back of the pennies.
the moment i observed this i washed it with water and i enquired with that lady regarding her hiv check up.
she told that she is not having any such things and every two months once she will undergo hiv test.
she told me that, she got tested one month before also and result came as "negative".

After coming back to home, i took bath with dettol water and washed my pennies clearly inside and outside.
After 2 days i observed  2 small niddle like things projected out on my red part of the pennies with milky white in color.
those are very small and i can see those only when i push back my forskin entirely and also when my pennies grows.
i showed this to a doctor after on month he given "imidil" cream, its a "broad-spectrum antifungal skin" cream.
after using this, those 2 small things gone within two days.
doctor told me that, its not because of that unprotected sex,
he told that its due to some unclean thing may remain there for sometime
which i did not observed before.

now its almost 3 months over, i have not yet tested for HIV as i read so many articles
which they mentioned minmum 3 months required to get accurate result.
This is the first time i had sex with prostitute and i faced bad experience.
i am a married guy having 1 year baby. After this accident till now i did not have sex with my wife also,
thinking that it may transfer to her also.

i need your suggestion on this, can i undergo HIV test now or i need to wait for some days.
and whether can i have sex with my wife by using condom, once again i am having fear
thinking that condom may broke when having sex with wife.

Please help me out by providing Ur valuable suggestion.

Need,

You need to test at three months past this incident to determine your hiv status.

Hiv is a fragile, difficult to transmit virus and more so from a woman to a man. You were covered up until the condom broke and while you have had a risk, it is on the lower end of the scale.

I have yet to see the insertive partner end up positive following a condom break and I do not expect you to be the first. However, you MUST test at the appropriate time.

A correctly used condom rarely breaks. Make sure you read through all three condom and lube links in my signature line so you can avoid having them break in future. And yes, you can have sex with your wife with a condom until you get the all clear following your hiv test.

Hi Ann,

Thanks for the reply.

i forgot to mention one thing, i have not seen any of the symptoms related to HIV till now from the day incident happen, as i mentioned earlier only 2 small niddle like stuff came out. i am very healthy now.
i like to add one more thing here i am having sinus problem from my childhood, so i used to take antibiotic tables regularly. is this extend my window period time. i know that for most of the people it will take 3 months max or 6 months. i am having worry that, using antibiotics may extend my window period.

please guide me.

Don't worry about taking antibiotics. Doing that would not affect either the window period or the result of your HIV test. Like Ann I agree that the odds are very much in your favor that you will test HIV negative.

Good luck with your test and keep us posted.

Cheers.

You're wlecome. Glad it helped.

With it having been a single and partially protected incident of possible exposure, I do expect you to come out of this ok. But you're doing the wise thing by getting tested just to be sure.

You don't have Syphilis or HIV. Your tests were both negative.

Congratulations on that happy result. No, you do not need to re-test at 6 months. You have reliably tested negative for HIV. Period. End of story.

Get on with your life and make sure you always use a condom for vaginal and anal intercourse. Then you will be well protected against sexual transmission of HIV. It's just that simple.

Cheers.

Now that you have reliably tested negative you can dispense using condoms with your wife. Condoms are not necessary for when you receive oral as HIV is not transmitted in that way.

If you have intercourse with anyone outside of your relationship with your wife, you have to be sure to use a condom everytime. No exceptions. Again, using one for receiving oral is not necessary as far as HIV is concerned.

You're good to go now.
