You're funny.
But your little bike is a step in the right direction: it has a motor.
I have friends who own big Harleys and most of them have the scars to go with it.
I have never heard of this one but it seems impressive:

I'm with bear on that one Jan, as long as it's got an engine and you enjoy leaning into curves, then you are an enthusiast in my book.
I've always liked the Buell's more hooligan styling, but it suffered from poor performance due to it's previous engines. They used retuned Harley Sportster engines that due to their air-cooled push rod configuration can't produce the consistent kind of power to compete with other manufacturers.
I've ridden, as well as raced, multiple types of bikes. Suzuki 600's, 750's, 1000's and a Ducati 916.
I went with the Buell because they really are great handling bikes and now with the new Rotax engines, put out power on par with other sport twins. I was looking at the Ducati 1098 and the Aprilia RSV1000R as altrnatives, but they couldn't beat the Buell on not only the initial purchase price but maintenance and replacement parts as well.
Bear, as far as the scars go, there are two kinds of riders, those who have gone down, and those that are going to go down.
Uh-oh, why do I suddenly feel like I just opened mouth and inserted foot,,,,,LOL

Hi Diver

It took me awhile to learn that I had to actually lean the way the bike was turning..even on my little Lambretta...but the first "real" motor bike I ever owned was a Yamaha RX-S and by that time I had the corners well and truely sussed... :D

I came off it a few times but with no real damage..when I turned 50 hubby said no more bikes...~sigh~

Well Jan,
Sorry to hear your off of bikes.
Maybe you can convince the hubby for something a bit more sedate for riding.

31, I've never owned my own bike.  I did, however, used to go out with a guy from a local biker club; it got disbanded by the Hell's Henchman, who I bartended for/hung out with, which kind of got disbanded by the Devil's Disciples.  And I don't even see their patches around anymore.  There's quite a few Hell's Angels here now.

If I ever own a bike though, it will definitely be a Harley.  I just love having power between my legs (yes, take from that what you will, you animals).

Used to be. Yamaha Diversion but London is a risky place to be a biker. Seen and heard of too many guys that ended up dead or seriously injured. Also I didn't really use it enough to justify insurance, road tax, etc. So I sold it a couple of years ago.

I do miss the thrill of riding a m/bike though. Now I use my bicycle instead, and use it to go almost everywhere in the city. At least it keeps me fit too.. ;)

What I miss the most are track days.
A great work out, but an absolute blast, not to mention it makes you a more proficient rider.
We'll see how things go. I don't think I'll be putting this one on the track, really don't have the time between work and the kids, but at least I'll be able to go out for the occassional putt.

How do ya like the 1125? Any problems with the charging system? Badweatherbiker?

No problems that I've noticed, but only have less than 200 miles on her.
Looks like BRP Rotax built a really good engine.
Have been working on breaking her in, but if the rest of the rev range is like it is below 4k, this should be a really fun bike.
A little water doesn't keep me off the roads.

The one thing I would like to see though is when I can get a better exhaust and get rid of the stock one. It's suppossed to be a high volume system, but a little quiet for my taste as well as looking to save some weight. But also would need to see when power commander makes a new module for the mapping.
The Me are definitely a fun torquey bike.

Denver,
I just fell out of the tree reference Badweather.
HavenKt had any of the charging issues, but then again, riding in Miami, I really don't need of the heated gear.
In a few months I might be looking for an air conditioned jacket. For now I guess I'll just have to keep the vents open the brain bucket and jacket.

I got a motorcycle the day before I turned 14 . That's the age you can get a license for a bike in my state .
My dad bought me a bright yellow Suzuki 125 street / trail and if they knew how far and fast that bike took
me they would have grounded me for life . To this day if I'm stressed out I dream of that yellow motor bike
at night . I suppose it represented total freedom to me then and now.

My first car was a moped. LOL
A Honda spree. I had a black one and for a short time a pink one.
I wouldnt mind having another but I'd prefer one that went more than 40 mph downhill.

My parents wouldnt let me drive it at night because apparently thats when a girl is most likely to get raped and murdered riding a bike.

JG, I still remember my first bike, a Suzuki RM125, a whole lot of stories of getting into trouble on that bike.
But, my last bike was a Suzuki GSXR 1000. There were quite a few 3AM blasts after a long day at work.
Wini, it's sometimes funny what our parents have in their heads. I guess some things we just don't understand until we have kids of our own.

I forgot one detail or important story about my first motorcycle when I was 14... A rather intimidating girl at school named Suzanne confronted me with a deal. If I let her ride my bike for a couple of hours after school  she would have sex with me , she was my first. It was very romantic , we went into the woods and into a ditch so no one would see where she said something like hurry up I gotta git home now. I got what I wanted plus mosquito bites on my ass all spring. Funny thing she turned out to be a bigger lesbian than I as a fag.

I think I was working a Rare Groove look at the time, circa 1987... vertically striped pants, ruffled shirts, love beads and a bejewelled beanie.  I was a bit flashy for Richmond, VA.  Oh, and lots of drugs.

Yeah, I know.  I'd be happy with a new one now, and wouldn't you know that there's a Vespa dealer shop within walking distance of me?  That Vespa I had was vintage enough when I owned it, so now 20 years later it would be even more fab.  I think I let it go for $500 in 1989.

I had my Vespa in the early sixties...kept it after college until I worked my first job in Phoenix   Arizona.......it was so hot that I just couldn't ride the Vespa without getting a severe windburn, even a windscreen didn't help,   so I sold it...loved it while I had it...

I had boys so I have no clue what its like to raise a girl. My baby is 18.
But I had a whole lot more sense than my brother or my son ever had LOL
I think the most dangerous thing about riding at night would be other drivers trying to run me over more often.

It made me a more cautious driver. Watching out for other drivers.

When I lived in San Diego there was a place in North Park that sold new and old Vespa's .
The old ones sold for $ 2500 to $3500 , at the time that sounded pretty good to me.
I wanted one in the worst way and looked at them on and off for months. I was in a shaky relationship and knew I was going to have to move across country soon so saved my money for the move instead. I think a Vespa is a work of art .

Hubby and I both ride, but not as often as we'd like.  Traffic here isn't conducive to driving much less riding anything on two wheels.  BTW, Philly, I'm sure you looked fabulous on that Vespa!

What did you ride on the track before you purchased the 1125? SV650 here. Kept the Zoran folks busy w/ orders. When the closed Pikes Peak Raceway I sold the SV for a Yanaha WR... miss the Zook a lot.

Had a GSXR600 set up for track which I raced amateur class. But also jockeyed a GSXR750 for one shop and the last year I was racing, I would jockey a 996.
Miss the grunt out of the corners, that's why I decided on going with a sport twin this time around.
Not for track, but definitely miss the acceleration out of the curves, not that I would wheelie coming out of a highway on ramp or anything like that,,,,yeah, right!!!(Cue evil grin)
As for Bad web, I've been checking out the posts, thanks for the heads up.
What tracks have you ridden?
Homestead, Sebring, Road Atlanta, Daytona, and Willow Springs here.

Tracks - Road America and Pikes Peak. Pikes is tight and lots of 2nd 3rd 4th gear turns. RA was incredible. Looong and fast sweepers. The uphill straight to start finish is a blast. Pin and Grin.

Aside from the freeway on ramps, what passes for a curve in Fl?  ;D

There were some fun times launching the front tire on the dip.
We do have some curvy roads, one in particular that cuts through the Everglades, flat, open sweepers mostly with a couple of tightening apex turns thrown in. Unfortunately, no hills down here though.
Looking forward to getting her broken in, as well as getting rid of my personal cobwebs from not having really ridden hard in awhile, and head up to Deal's Gap this summer.

Henry - I came Oh So Close to buying one of those. The Rx is one heck of a machine. Classic styling, modern power, handles most anything you can throw at it with ease. Back road burner to superslab tourer. If the Kawi dealer had one in ELR green there'd be one in my garage. Congrats.

Rode a 750 Honda quite a while back. During late 70's. I gave it to my younger brother who proceeded to wreck it within a month.
I still remember the rush and the sensation of freedom. Maybe I should get another bike--timing it for an overdue mid-life crisis, of course.

Could you post a pic of the Buell 1125R.
You could be on it, 31diver.
With striped pants and luv-beads only.
