Welcome to Do I Have HIV?

Welcome to the "Do I Have HIV?" POZ forum.

This special section of the POZ forum is for individuals who have concerns about whether or not they are HIV positive. Individuals are permitted to post up to three questions or responses in this forum.

Ongoing participation in the "Do I Have HIV?" forum (posting more than three questions or responses) requires a paid subscription, with secure payments made via PayPal.

A seven-day subscription is $9.99, a 30-day subscription is $14.99 and a 90-day subscription is $24.99.

Anyone who needs to post more than three messages in the "Do I Have HIV?" forum -- including past, present and future POZ Forums members -- will need to subscribe, with secure payments made via PayPal.

I'm still scared

Ok, ill start off by saying thank you for everyone here helping those who are not as educated in this area. And my apologies as I am not the best with words.

I am a bi-sexual male and practice safe sex BUT, on 3-07-2013 I had an in counter. I asked him before we started if he was regularly tested and not infected. He responded yes. But we both did not have protection so we only agreed on oral. So we started messing around and at one point he got on top and was rubbing the head of my penis around his anus. He tried pushing down but I stopped him then again he tried and I was as fast to stop him. So the head of my penis slipped in for a brief moment and I said no, and was going to leave but he promised not to and we only performed oral. He never ejaculated. He only had precum.

So my concern is that we went past frottege for a brief moment maybe 30 seconds or minute on the high side in total. My worry is I have never did anything like that and worried and stress so much that I shortly devolved symptoms in the first week. So I went to drs. And they expressed that it wouldn't infect that fast... So I took a oral test 6 days post exposure then a blood test 8 days post exposure. Then I talked with dr as they expressed that I wait till 6 or more weeks so I did. I took another test at 71 days post exposure. Again all negative, yes I know that the first two were pointless but they helped mentally for a brief moment. My dr thinks it's pointless now to test again, as he expressed that the risk was so minimal but I wanna no what others think? Am I really losing sleep an stressing so much over nothing really?

Hi Worried . I agree with your doctor , the dipping episode you describe was low risk and grudgingly so at that . I have not seen a case of anal dipping where the top later tested positive from it .

Your test at 71 days inst going to change but if you insist on another test against your doctors advice you can do so at the 3 month mark , personally I would just get on with my life and put this behind me if I were you , but in the end its your call .

Thank you, I am still going to take the test. Though my dr. Never felt the need in the first place I believe it to be the responsible thing to do. Also a weird question... Would taking lysine affect any of the test?

Jeff,

Hi you have already answered my questions more then enough is there any way you could answer this one last one to help my mental ability. What's the deal with this 6 month window? Like I said I am going to take the 3 month test, problay the oral quick at the hiv/std clinic. Would this 3 month test be conclusive? I mean I haven't been sick except for the first week after incident and I think I am a pretty healthy guy.. No big problems of illness that I know of. And is the oral test reliable enough to trust?

There isn't a 6 month window period and hasn't been since 2004.

  In an adult, a positive HIV antibody test result means that the person is infected, a person with a negative or inconclusive result may be in the “window for 4 to 6 weeks but occasionally up to 3 months after HIV exposure. Persons at high risk who initially test negative should be retested 3 months after exposure to confirm results
