Hello

So I've been on this combo since 2007 and it has worked great. But I constantly suffer from really bloated belly. It almost makes me not want to eat or sometime not take the meds. The bloated belly thing only goes away when I am hungry. Its all very superficial reason, but hey, I get so self conscious when I am trying to take my shirt off like at a pool party and eat! I tried Ultrase (pacreatease) but doesnt' work well.

I tried Viramune and Truvada combo for a couple of months, and did notice that my stomach went back to that "lean" look which I had before the meds. But I switched back to the Reyataz combo because I got a flu and became paranoid. I am sure now that it didn't have anything to do with the Viramune combo.

I will have a new doc starting this august and going to see if I can switch my med. My old doctor kept insisting that I should keeep my current regiment, and would not switch my meds. I don't think he realize how annoying that bloated belly thing is for me.

With that said, what do you guys all think? Any combo recommendation? I don't have resistance to any medication and oh, I can't take Atripla due to bad dreams.

Thanks

1. Food with meds in decent quantity.

2. Switch Reyataz to Prezista or Truvada to Kivexa (if you can take it).

The bloating is most likely from the tenofovir in Truvada, but might, as an off chance, be the Reyataz.

Then possibly switch to Viramume/Truvada if you got on with it? This is a perfectly good combo (amd cheap too).

what about some of the new drugs that are out there on the market? like intergrase prohibitor or others,,, i am figuring since viramune is "older" there must be other better and safer drugs out there, no?

Age of drugs does not predict safety or efficacy. Indeed, Viramune is one of the very first HIV meds. The initial possible liver side effects aside, it has a very good side effect profile and works very well.

An analogy: a well-built old house with its known faults is better and better understood than a (possibly) badly built new house with unknown faults.

cool

The more I hear/read the more I believe Reyataz/tenofovir is a dodgy combo a lot of the time.
