Maktub
« on: March 21, 2007, 06:43:47 am »
Do you believe in destiny?  Would you hypothesize on our own situation in these forums as Hivers/AIDS sufferers  that, whatever we do our history is inexorably already written?   Actually, these questions could be asked/applied  to anyone who is not even sick.  But, since my interest in this subject is limited to our forum, I'll keep it within the AIDS=curse, punishment twaddling we still hear nowadays.  And more generally within the homosexual agenda and the guilty, shame feeling that,  whether we want it or not,  will accompany us for the rest of our lives.

The reason why I inquired above about your beliefs in matters  such as destiny, is because that is exactly what Astrology affirms:   "Our destiny is ineluctable".  Or, like the Arabs would say,  "Maktub" which literally translates as ..."it is written".
Now, I know that for many people  -- myself included? -- Astrology is just a joke.  And why should Astrology be more of a joke than any other science/religion?  This science is based on the study of the heavenly bodies just like many religions!

An interesting example of how we humans refer to this science intelligently is the word  "disaster".  It literally means the dishevelling, the disorder of the known heavenly bodies.  So it could be said that whenever we pronounce this word, we are basically saying that the "astros" (heavenly bodies) are being put out of line.  A  "disaster" is what happened to me and  to you when we found out we were HIV positives, right?  Perhasp not, since it is written!

Another  "disaster"  for our society in general is the fact that we, homosexuals, are what we are:  sincere with our most inner feelings and desires!  Because if we truly take Astrology for what it is and affirms, than being different in any sense whatsoever is no reason to feel guilty and shame of playing  "the destiny card"!  The same reasoning goes for AIDS.  Why all the stigma and bias against us as opposed to so many other illnesses?

I suppose  that uncounsciously I always liked Astrology as a science,  even though only  recently have I nurtured the feeling of learning a bit more about it than just reading my horoscope every day.  I appreciate the neutral side of this science in that it does not make distinction between men, women, gays and  heterosexuals.  The center pilar of Astrology is the human being and his evolution on our planet.

And besides being aware of the fact that many people will disagree with me  on the subject, I dare say that what impresses me the most about Astrology is the following:

1 - There is no guilty and no blame.  In our case, for example, it would be useless to lay the blame for being infected by HIV on someone.  This debate could go on and on for, at the end, people realize that no one gets HIV because they deserve it.   Besides, having a guilty conscience is a burden on your evolution as a human being and will not change anything...for the better!  Quite the contrary.

2 - There are no such things as polemic issues.  No matter how virtueless and unrighteous a deed someone did, the truth is  "we"  all could have done it.  Why?  Because it was done by a human being.  The only escape we can find regarding this is that throughout the centuries humans have been domesticated so to speak;  and, thank goodness refrain from doing certain things even when their instinct --- or the call of the wild --- sprout up on them.

3 - It is not the end of the world just because you are sick.  This is actually my very own translation of some many articles I have read about Astrology.  It basically says that ..."whatever happens to you, and since there is not much you can do, breathe profoundly and enjoy the present moment 'cause tomorrow is another day"!

4 - The fountain of eternal youth is intelligence.  When Act-Up coined that awesome moto  "Knowledge is power", it is my guess that they had something like Astrology in mind.  I once said in one of the meetings we hold once a month with poz buddies, which has nothing to do with Act-Up by the way, that  ..."I could finally see the beginning of new times (for poz people), with elegant people (in all the different meanings of the word) who would be elegant and fine..."

Because the truth,  according to Astrology, is that when we are born and take that very first breath we receive the influence of the Cosmos  i.e. how it was aligned at that single moment.  Our Natal Cards (Astral map?) is exactly the position of the heavenly bodies as they were when we came to this world!  And it is to be believed that this  "position"  is engraved in our faces throughout our journey on earth.

I am sure other people are wiser and more advanced in the subject than I am and hopefully will chime in, but if there is one significant and precious message that I would like to send to everyone is these forums is:

--- We should never, ever feel shame or carry a giulty conscience because of HIV.  I like to believe in what Astrology says.  It was written!  And if that's not enough to convince someone, think about what the Arabs have been saying for thousands and thousands of years:  "Maktub"
The same truth holds for our sexual orientation.  Homosexuals are just as natural as heterosexuals and we don't come to this world with the  "specific" taks of multiply ourselves even though it is better to do so.

Astrology, destiny, superstition, and religious predictions are all a crock of crap. So is life after death, reincarnation. Sorry, one life is all ya get. We have control over our lives, some of us more than others. Coincidences are just that. Although it is sometimes fun or detrimental to sit around thinking "what if" instead of doin' something about it. I am always astounded at people who start their sentences, "I was destined to get AIDS." The term self fulfilling prophecy is very real though.

Oh, my stars!  I should have held off on this thread til after I'd had more coffee.  My head hurts.  But then I guess I was meant to see it at this time, right?  Mercury and Saturn and Pluto said so, right?  All that "it is written" stuff sounds just like what the preacher man says at church:  Jesus knows you're gonna do this and you're gonna do that, and the Anti-Christ is gonna come and so on and so on.

I'll take some of your last paragraph and bold lines #3 and 4, please.

Just looked at my horoscope today (thanks to this thread).  It sucks- as always.  Libras almost NEVER get good horoscopes.  They usually range from "It might not be THAT bad" to "Girl!  Don't leave the house!"  *sigh*

"I was destined to get AIDS"?  That sentence is awful!  I agree with you.  Remark, though,  that the whole point of my post is that I  "like"  Astrology better than all the other crap floating around these days.
And you sound sooooh convinced of what you affirm!  Have you ever heard that the number one enemy of truth is not lie?  It is conviction.  I am a sinner in this sense as well 'cause I do have my convictions and beliefs.  However, I am careful when stating them.  You never know, really.

And Tim, I always thought your posts were funny, but am still laughing about the one above...

Today's Libra Forecasts:

From Horoscope.com:

The sun is the planet associated with identity, and the transit of the sun into your seventh house could, depending on the influences, put a slight strain on your love life. Today those influences are neutral, but you will need to guard against being slightly self-centered and demanding!

So my already limp love life will be further taxed (by the heavens, no less) and I should try not to be such an asshole.  File under:  "It might not be THAT bad".

From Astrology.com:

Peace and quiet are high on your must-have list, especially when you consider the recent compromises and sacrifices you've made. Declare your independence from the self-absorbed and the selfish.

So since other people won't stop being such assholes, I should probably tuck myself away somewhere.  File under:  "Girl!  Don't leave the house!"

I rest my case.
AIDS isn't for sissies.

I did look at my horoscope today and it was, as usual, rather funny.  It started like this:

..."Your birth date falls on a cusp, meaning that you were born on a day when the Sun was moving between the signs".

Next, I got this:

Astrology.com
http://rep.astrology.com/free/12190/8173/1.html

And this should be the truth, nothing but the truth?  You betcha. ;)

Not wishing to engage in yet another lengthy diatribe of religious discussion, I will simply post:

My Horoscope for today.

Let your true self shine. Sometimes you feel you have to apologize because you've had so many gifts and blessings in your life, but keeping your light under a bushel doesn't help anyone, least of all yourself.

Anyone want to come over and "bask in my glow?"

HUGS,

Mark
