Hey there
Thanks so much for a great site.
About 2 days ago i went to a bathhouse and preformed oral sex on a guy.
I know this is only a "theoretical" risk but when i was busy preform oral i noticed that the guy had like a cut or sore on the side of his shaft near the head of his penis about the size of a pimple. It felt abit hard like it had a scab on it. I am worried that it mite have been bleeding or started bleeding when i was sucking him and got blood in my mouth. There was no ejaculation.
I have good oral health but had a very very small bite mark on the inside of my cheek that i did in the morning. The next day after the bathhouse it had already healed.
So i just want to know
1. Was i at risk of hiv infection ?
2. Do i need to get tested ?
3. How much blood would you need to become infected in this way, if at all ?

A scab on the penis? Could be a chancre, a sign of syphilis. Those things are painless, and sometimes go undetected by the person with that illness. Syphilis carries the same testing window as HIV, three months.
Though I would be surprised if you were to seroconverrt with HIV through this incident, I HIGHLY recommend a followup STD screening for everything at three months. Why not include HIV in that?

If you had an active case of syphillis it would lower your immune systems ability to fend off other STDs.
However, the other person's having syphillis would not affect your ability to fend off other infections or make you more vulnerable to HIV transmission. Not as long as your immune system is in a healthy state.

Still theoretical.
I hope you're getting tested for syphilis. The chancres are painless so you may have one and not even know it. Syphilis shares a three month window with hiv for a conclusive result, but can usually be detected much sooner if it is present.
But this is an hiv website. We're not here to answer your syphilis questions. Go see a doctor.

I am going to get tested for syphilis, as he did have a sore.
So i am correct in saying that even though he had a sore it is still a theoretical risk for hiv

Yes. His having a chancre sore would not increase your risk for HIV via giving oral.
In general we do advise anyone who is sexually active to regularly have a full STD panel done. That means at least annually. Other STDs are much easier to acquire than HIV.
Yours is not an HIV situation.

Can i ask you 1 more question
If i got blood or fluid from his syphilis sore in my mouth would that change anything regarding hiv transmission.
I have read that STD sores like syphilis help transmit hiv more easly

Your having an active STD could knock your immune system down. But you aren't talking about yourself having one, but rather the person to whom you gave oral.
Again, you are worrying needlessly. If you can't let go of this concern then go ahead and get tested at 13 weeks just for your peace of mind. It's a waste of resources, but that's up to you.
There really isn't anything more we can add to this situation about your unwarranted concern.

No. The natural defense of saliva with over a dozen enzymes and proteins is a powerful barrier to the transmission of HIV.
You really need to let go of this unwarranted fear and move on with your life.

Update
I started to get a pimple like sore in month so went for syphilis test and came back poz.
I have now had my injections ouch.
I also managed to find the guy and ask him. He says he has just found out that he has syphilis and HIV :'(
I am now very worried that i got HIV when i got the syphilis. Especially if he was newly infected and had a very high viral load
Is this still not an HIV situation

Your having contracted syphillis from that incident doesn't change our evaluation of it having been a non-risk for HIV.
However, given your continuing concern I suggest you get tested simply for peace of mind. You can do a test at 6 weeks. At 6 weeks all but the smallest number of those who are going to seroconvert will have done so. I certainly expect you to collect a negative result and hopefully that will allow you to let go of this concern and move on with your life.

I was the bottom. He had a cut on his hand, didn't see blood but i am worried that if there was blood and it got onto the condom and then inside me could i get infected this way or would the lube and other
elements disable the virus?
I am worried because i had 2 really bad headaches on Monday and Tuesday just past, and have had 3 night sweats in a row now and i have never had them before.
If you get symptoms do they come on together or after each other

Again you never had a risk.

Clearly you are a worrier and as Rod has pointed out, once again in this case you are worrying without any basis in HIV science.
You used a condom. That's exactly what you're supposed to do. None of the details you have thrown into the mix make any difference. You had protected intercourse and there is no cause for concern.
Give it up and get on with your life. End of story.

I need your help
I met this guy and we had intercourse, i was the bottom and it was all protected.
The only thing i am worried about is that he didn't stay hard long so we had to keep changing condoms when he was hard again.
The thing that is worrying me is that he used 1 of the used condoms again which i then made him change for a new closed 1 but he had already penetrated me with that used 1.
So the thing i am asking is:
1. The pre cum on the condom can that infected me, cause it got inside of me?
2. Should i take PEP ?

It doesn't matter that he re-used one of the condoms. The reason you're not supposed to do this is because they are more likely to break, but that isn't a concern here as you made him put a new one on before that happened.
You're worrying unnecessarily about precum. Hiv is a fragile, difficult to transmit virus that is primarily transmitted INSIDE the human body where the virus never leaves the confines of the two bodies.
Once outside the body, small changes in temperature, and pH and moisture levels all quickly damage the virus and render it unable to infect. Any hiv on the condom would have been damaged and not able to infect you.
You certainly do NOT need PEP over this NO RISK incident.
Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, and you will avoid hiv infection. It really is that simple!!!
