Travelling to Melbourne
« on: September 24, 2007, 05:30:48 am »
It's me again - the geraitric with no hair.
Tomorrow morning I am off to Melbourne, the capital of Victoria for a visit to another specailist (immunologist) and a few days in The Alfred Hospital.

Where I live in Hobart, we have limited facilities for treatment and care of HIV patients, so the government kindly allows me to get some frequent flyer points at their expense.

It's about an hour from where I live by plane and I will probably spend about 10 days in Melbourne in total - about a week doing the tourist bit after I get out of hospital.

Next month I get to go to Sydney and St. Vincent's hospital - again for about a 3 days stay followed by a bit of Christmas shopping.

It's a pity that we don't have more advanced facilities in Tasmania - I have to wait about 4 weeks just to get the results of a viral load blood test and a week for T cells.

Does anyone else have to travel and wait for results for unacceptable lengths of time?

Regards
