I am looking forward to the new "Continuity" project/integration (http://www.apple.com/ios/ios8/continuity/) coming in OS 10.10 and iOS 8

I am also watching a movie from 9 years ago with Goop Mistress Paltrow and a 24 year old Gyllenhaal.

I went grocery shopping today.  Oh, and got gas at $3.89/gallon.  It keeps going up and down in price and I'm frankly sick of it.

I was thinking about this today . A few years ago people where outraged at gas prices and demanding to know why it had gone up so much ... we got used to high price and not much is said anymore . I wonder now how long until $4.85 will be the new high and how long will it take for us to forget this time .

I believe people got sick of hearing about how much profit the oil companies were/are making on the backs of everyone having to fill up their tank.  I've heard things about it, why it's so high in this area of the country, but I've written that off to fluff.

I remember when gas was over $4, and was so happy when it came down to $3-something.  But now, it's ridiculous.  We have to live frugally so these damn oil companies need to quit gouging us.

Wow,  that's kind of high !  I just bought gas today at $ 3.35 a gallon.  Supposed to drop in price for the summer:

Alexander Skarsgard, proportioned muscle on the tall lanky frame.
Chris Evans as a blond, though pretty much any hair color works for him. :-)

Kristen Bell, for the strong type.
Dianna Agron, for the classic blond vulnerable b!tch character she plays well.

They're both just so damn gorgeous, I would say Matt Bomer however I cant picture him blonde, but as a brunette, DAMN, he's so hot. *sigh* back to drooling at tumblr pics of them all.

My partner had lunch with a friend yesterday and this friend told my partner she and her husband suspect I have an alcohol problem. They are concerned because I tell them I don't drink alcohol. My partner told her that I've never drank alcohol and that I don't like the taste. She said that was also suspicious because there are alcoholic drinks that where you can't taste the alcohol, therefore I wasn't being honest about my reason for not drinking. She also asked my partner "does he treat you well?" She was completely serious about this.

Of course the two of them discussed my alcohol problem while polishing off martinis and two bottles of wine. Psychological projection?

I've been working feverishly to finish my new place.  The master bedroom was finished yesterday.  Everything painted from the ceiling down.  Even painted the subfloor with a sealer.  The master bathroom has about one good day of work and it'll be done.

Which reminds of something that many of you can answer.  I've decided to buy new bedroom furniture.  My matress set is close to its 8 year mark so it needs replaced.  I've always preferred a queen size (insert jokes now).  I'm considering downsizing to a double.  I'm worried it'll be too small especially when I'm lucky enough to share it.  Are there any couples here who comfortably use a double?

It depends on your and your potential lover's sleeping style.
I did a double with a bf and loved it for years but if you have the space and already have the queen bedclothes, just get a queen again.
Now I have a double and a twin and I more often sleep in the twin, don't even know why....

Queen, at a minimum.  Spent a few years with Sid in a double.  Cuddling is fine and can be done in any size bed, but he generates so much fucking heat when he sleeps -- I need space between us.  Go with a California King!

Double is the same as what's called a "full size" mattress and it's what my parents have always used. Neither of them are overweight. They also have this size in the guest room so I sleep in it when I visit, and I actually owned one previous to my current queen size because I had an antique spindle bed and that was the size of it. But I will say for two men it's not suitable which I discovered with my last partner. It's totally sufficient for a single person though.

I almost ordered a complete set until something my sister said to me kicked in.  She wondered why I need new furniture at this time as my current set is good enough for a little longer considering what else I still need to buy.

I already have new appliances except for a stove.  I really didn't see the immediate need for one and said I'd just get one down the road.  She said it looks ridiculous not having one. :(  I figured I could just buy a microwave for what little cooking I do.

I did a test last night that indicated I'll remain with a larger set.  I slept in mom's guest room part of the night.  It has a double and will not suit me long term.  I ended up returning to my queen.

I also broke down and had cable installed.  They tried their damnest to convince me on expensive packages.  I chose the starter package that runs $19.99 a month.  All I have to do is figure out how to watch Bravo and I'll be good.

I pretty much enjoy anything Bravo as I don't have to actively watch and pay attention.  I can do other things and tune in occasionally.  I'm too hyper to actually sit glued to a tv for long periods of time.

On a side note, I rec'd a call from a friend a little while ago asking if I'd help him carry in his new stove.  The old one looks just fine and I asked why they needed a new one.  He said his wife complains that it doesn't bake cakes correctly.  I guess she's been bitching for 3 years about it.  I'll bet he didn't level it....lazy bastard.  Anyways, he gave it to me.  Let's see...the last time I baked a cake was like never.

Anyhoo, you all have a great day.  Getting ready to take Joshie to the Airport.  He has to be back in LA tonight.  We didn't get to spend much quality time together. :(

This is mostly how I "watch" tv.  I'll sit and closely watch very few shows... Good looking shows are worth watching. Certain shows are kind of complex or not too talky, so you have to watch them if you want to follow.
I will watch new shows a few episodes to get the gist then I don't have to really watch them anymore just hear them and glance once and awhile.

Don't you need one for frying and boiling water, at least?
Get a stove - start baking.  Bake potatoes, chicken, meatloaf, brownies, etc.

Look in your frozen vegetable aisle.
I can make very quick meals based on frozen mixed vegetables.
They have all kinds now.  They have frozen ratatouille veges, chinese veges, minestrone veges, old fashioned winter mixed, and summer mixed, etc etc.

Here they have this great one that is very finely chopped veges including onions.  You can sautee them and add vegetable soup.

You can sauté the chinese veges and eat with rice and tofu.  Get some miso.  Saute veges and then add water and miso for very quick soup.

Check the fresh chilled soups.  Here in switzerland they import the industrial, but fresh, soups from Spain - it comes in a quart container.  There are several varieties of gazpacho and its pretty damned good and no effort.  You can eat that with toasted bread and cheese, or a grilled cheese.

If you don't know, learn how to make hard boiled eggs. Hard boiled eggs are very nutritious and the new thinking is that this kind of egg is not a cholesterol risk.  You can put them in gazpacho.  Make sandwiches with different spreads.  Bread you like, some kind of savoury spread and sliced boiled eggs. Maybe real tomatoes in the summer. Or some tasty greens like cilantro or arugula.   Its pretty easy.  Also eggs are cheap and quality protein for the money.

I had a ham sandwich tonight and some strawberries and kiwi for dessert.  Brian had firefighter duties.

Then, I watched the Space Station fly over.  It was especially bright tonight.  I use an app called ISS Detector.  The Space Station now has LIVE feeds of new HD cameras on USSTREAM.  So, I was able to see what they were seeing as I was watching them.  The cameras don't pick up city lights well, but there was still enough sun out.  It flew by about 50 minutes ago and it is now almost over Jan in New Zealand.  Swinging under Australia now.  It is amazing when we see it here in Louisville, it can be well over Canada or over the Atlantic, by the time it goes out of view.

So many threads become about food.   :o  I had mac and cheese twice yesterday and a protein bar.  total cost for the day: $2.79

Have to be at work at 4:00 am this morning.  Love these shifts where I can have an afterwork cocktail by noon and not feel like a total lush.

@Zach, when I was forced to move back home, it was difficult trying to prepare adequate meals that both mother and I could eat.  For the most part, we ate separately.  She slowing came around to eating some of what I'd fix.  What's the old saying?  Just because your dad jumps off a cliff, do you have to follow?

you geek.  ;) Someone once described an app to me, it tells you what sky you point the phone at; identifies stars, planets, all the m objects. That would cool. I used to go to amateur astronomy star parties as a kid, I lived near a state park where a local university had a telescope. Built a cardboard tube schmidt cassegrain. Good times. Now I do good to somewhat aware of the moon.

Here's something to talk about!

So, it appears that there is a NAKED BIKE RIDE in Portland!  This is somewhat of a novelty to me and - no - I will not be participating.  I may have done many things in the Midwest without being properly attired, but a naked bike ride in the PNW is not going to be one of them. You just can't do ANYTHING now-a-days without someone and a camera phone!! There is a reason that the folks in WI did not do this.....most of it comes from a diet high in Krispy Kreme and Kringles.

The police are threatening to arrest whomever parades around on their bike without clothes. That should be worth the price of admission alone!  I think that this whole this is to protest something.

There's also an app called, "What's Down Under?"  It tells you what's on the opposite side of the earth from you.  Interesting; but something you'd probably just use once.  If it is accurate, looks like I would come up in the Indian Ocean, if I dug my way through.  Actually, almost exactly where the search area is for the Malaysian plane.

Looking through a telescope on a pier at the beach is probably one of my favorite memories.  We could see Saturn and the rings, clear as day.  We could see the storm on Jupiter.  The images were in black and white, which I don't fully understand.  Guess color doesn't travel well?  Anyway, we went on the beach, where there was a swinging bench.  We looked up and saw a shooting star across the ocean.  Then, there were guys having sex under the pier.  I remember looking over and seeing legs up in the air and about 5 guys lined up.  What a great night.  That is true.  Tybee Island off Savannah.

I was sitting on the sofa when I heard this horrible crash. A dump truck came careening around the corner and down the hill and hit a telephone pole head on. Pieces of the debris flew into our front yard and the ceramic insulator thingy popped out of our service connection on our house.

Luckily nobody was hurt and our service wasn't damaged. If he didn't make that turn I might not be here.

He was driving too fast and the truck was overloaded. Funny thing was that he kept on driving about two blocks to the bridge construction site dragging a stop sign along the way.

I planted my window boxes today. A huge project, its done and my back hurts.

Last week I spent a few days hunting the various flowers. I looked very hard before finding fresh, in shape petunias, and the perfumed variety.  The dark blue/purple have the headiest perfume, and sometimes the fuchsia and sometimes the white.

Petunias smell wonderful coming though the windows on summer nights.

When I had a garden in the small courtyard behind my city apartment, the snails and slugs would rip through the marigolds and petunias in a single night.  So its best to have them up here, far above those beasts.
I did the potting out back and had to carry all these clay and Eternit planters up directly.  I didn't dare leave them one night at ground level...

Tomorrow is Whit Monday - a public holiday, but I am hard pressed to understand what today, Pentecost, means...   Jesus as the Holy Spirit baptised the 12 Apostles and Mary??
Actually, its a holiday in many faiths....

I had a bit of emotional ride the last couple of days.  I decided to finally bring all my belongings out of storage.  I hadn't realized how long everything was in storage until I saw the dates on the newspapers that everything was wrapped in.  2 nights ago, I only went through a few things as everything held a memory.

I decided to complete the task last night with help from my trusty white medicine.  Box after box held such dear memories.  I went through every emotion well into the early hours.

I'll be completely in my new home by the weekend.  I should have the master suite completely done this evening.

Reminiscing is nice sometimes isn't it, Greg?  I've found an old VHS tape of me being interviewed by local TV on World Aids Day back in like '94.  Unfortunately I do not have a VHS player any longer.

I hope we get to see pics of your master bedroom!  I know you'll be happy when you're moved in.

Going to a cousin's wedding this upcoming weekend.  I really enjoyed attending weddings when I was in my 20s but now that I am in my 50s they are just not as fun.  It will be nice to get away for a few days but c'mon.... outside weddings in June just don't do it for me.  I get the 'vapors' in all this heat and humidity.

It sounds very picturesque.  But I know that area of the country is pretty steamy in June.  I will tell you a secret, and I've found this out going through menopause:  If you go to the section of the store that has feminine care products, there are "cooling wipes" for those of us that have hot flashes.  They work very well, and cool immediately.  Maybe you could pick some up for those "vapor" moments.

OK. Ill play.

I had a dent pulled out of my fender today by a random latino guy in a pickup at a Walmart today for $80.

I parked and he walked up to my window and started asking me if I wanted "that dent fixed"...It was 10:19, and I told him to get out of my way that I had to get into the Walmart McDonalds before the breakfast menu closed at 10:30, but to wait right there and I would be back. Sure nuff, I came back out with my biscuit and orange juice and he was waiting with a bucket of tools. I figured this would totally go south in some way but what the hell...YES LETS DO IT. He pulled out some stuff and rubbed it on my fender and put a big suction cup on it and pull the dent right out. Im still waiting for it to pop back in or something.

The deals are never ending at Walmart.

The course is offered online for a 'handsome' fee.  Then to get certified you have to spend a little bit more, AND have a government issued photo ID.

1.5 blocks for elementary school, or 0.2 miles. I was also a crossing guard and only the popular kids were chosen for that.

High school was about 4 blocks away.

I could also walk downtown in 15 minutes.

Aw, I was sure you were going to saw that it was 5 or 10 miles.  Uphill.  Both ways.

I rode the bus, 'cause I lived on the north side of town, and the schools were all on the other side of a major highway. These days, I don't think parents have their kids ride the bus very much, judging from the loooooong lines of cars I see in front of schools each morning.

Please Mary, In 5th grade I was a Sergeant in the crossing guard corps. I had the silver badge with the red center, and the flourescent orange sash. I got to tell all the 4th grade peon crossing guards what to do. I was riding high until I whacked a car with my stop sign pole (he ran through the crosswalk and deserved it). I was unceremoniously stripped of my badge and sash and sent to art class  :-[

I said yes to a couple pilot projects for a dean (who is not my dean) this year - and put in a fair amount of unpaid work, but also got paid for some of the extra work.  New projects are often like this - nobody really knows what to do or how long it will take.  So most staff say no, but I've learned to say yes and hope for rewards down the line.  Its a risk.

So I just found out I will get some classes in his division this year.  Never worked there and always wanted to.  This reward was not promised to me, not even mentioned, so its a wonderful surprise.

Don't you just love it when you experience fair play at work?!!   ;D

Mecch,

What wonderful news.  I think that more than fair play is at work here.  You are being acknowledged for making a meaningful contribution to your employer, through your own efforts and abilities.  It sounds more like a promotion might be in the business world.  You have gained deserved recognition of your talents and now have more responsibility and opportunity in another area that is of great interest to you.

Congrats, Mecch.

The first two years of high school were at Andrews Academy, the university's high school.  It was in another town, and my mother drove myself, and other kids, even during the horrid winter months.  The school would hardly ever close because most people lived in the university's housing, so they were super close.

Then, I got kicked out of public high school when I was in 11th grade.  Of course I finished, but through adult ed.

What is the subject exactly? High School? Transport to?
My school district was created in the 60s for mostly new housing developments and to remove it from the "decaying" city system.
My district was noted for a pretty strict income segregation. There was an elementary school for the very rich, another for the upper middle class, and another for the working class / lower middle class.  We all met in one Jr. High and luckily everyone mixed and mingled well enough for the next 6 years.  The class differences were an education rather than much of a hardship.

What I can't imagine, is being a kid or parent in the USA these days, with the non-stop shootings...  How are regular folks coping with this? I don't understand why all American parents aren't pressing their elected representatives for a more secure society...

Do people still live in denial and think it will never happen in their own school district?

Don't know if this merits a thread.  But it seems with the accelerating acceptance of same sex marriage, the hold-outs anti-gay bigots are getting more virulent, as well.

I read about some pretty obscene legislation in Kansas, completely against civil rights and amounting to a sort of new Jim Crow.

http://absolute-news.com/2014/06/kansas-anti-gay-bill-openly-legalizes-discrimination/

And then there is the 20hC intellect of Rick Perry:

Perry's comments to the Commonwealth Club of California came after Texas' Republican Convention on Saturday sanctioned platform language allowing Texans to seek voluntary counseling to "cure" being gay.

The San Francisco Chronicle http://bit.ly/1oWq0qR reports that in response to a question about it, Perry said he did not know whether the therapy worked.

Perry, a former and potential future GOP presidential candidate, was then asked whether he believed homosexuality was a disorder.

The paper says that the governor responded that "whether or not you feel compelled to follow a particular lifestyle or not, you have the ability to decide not to do that."

He said: "I may have the genetic coding that I'm inclined to be an alcoholic, but I have the desire not to do that, and I look at the homosexual issue the same way."

[/b]
The Texas Republican platform stand on the issue is in contrast to California and New Jersey, which have previously banned licensed professionals from providing such therapy to minors.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/06/12/rick-perry-homosexuality-alcoholism_n_5487314.html

I wish I could be outraged. Rather I feel its all very pathetic - this layer of people, my age no less, who remain so ignorant and self-entitled to discriminate and remain ignorant.  God. Anti-science. Pro-gun. Anti-LGBTQ. Anti-difference. Its so pathetically predictable and old school.

Hasn't science already pronounced how harmful and ineffective such therapy is?  So who is he kidding.  Is it WILLFUL ignorance, or cynical lying.  This is something I wish I knew.  Are people like this (bigots) aware they are pandering and lying for political purpose?  Or is there a faulty intellect, so that verified, trustworthy info GOES IN, but gets lost.... ?

Anybody interested a bit in Politics in the UK will be aware off them . The Guardian>The Telegraph>The Times> The Independent > Sunday only The Observer > The Scotsman >The Irish Times , are all proper news papers from soft left to right wing and have internet presence, they have all carried The Rise OFF The Tea Baggers type pieces more than once .

And off course The BBC /Channel 4 / Sky news/ BBC World Service regularly report there antics and analyze them. BBC World news I caught some excellent interviews with TB.S who where not foaming at the mouth clearly concerned about the society but fanatically naive to not only US politics but the rest off the world.

The fact that there rise coincides with USA first Black President is also noted/discussed.

And off course TV/Radio Satire well they are just a gift to the performers. A comic just has to say Sarah Palin and the audience laugh like Pavlov's dogs.

If I was to Sum up the view at the moment its one off thinking that the GOP has by uncritically welcoming the stirrings off its bonkers right wing are now reaping what happens when you sup with the Devil . Unless a figure off Obama.,s gravitas comes along in the GOP and stands up to the TB,s the Elephants are seen to be very old and needing appropriate care .

Plus do not under estimate how dangerous and poisonous these things are plus we have a Government who have invested a lot in School,s autonomy , and wants Gov to be out off Education.

The fact it proceeds to get Gov out off STATE education by changing things so Birmingham can happen has been noted.

Because the thing they latch into is 'voluntary' prayer in public schools. What they refuse to accept is that nothing is voluntary. To opt-out is to be ostracized and ridiculed.

In my high school in Texas, there was a prayer installed in metal individual letters on the wall of the auditorium. A kids atheist parents spent years in the courts to have it removed. The finally won. Fortunately, the kids had already graduated. The faculty and students alike thought it was a travesty ... Even though in confidence, many saw the rationale and supported the decision.....in private. To voice this support would have meant slashed tires! Not much has changed except there really aren't that many Farrah Fawcett hair-dos, anymore.

damn mecch, the swiss team, did you see that final goal?!
Didn't see it live but heard it on the streets.  ;D
But the commotion for the Swiss is never as crazy as when a latin team wins like Spain, Portugal, or Italy then the streets here in Switzerland will be gridlocked and best to have ear plugs.

Lost a wallet I quite liked with Drivers L, Swiss ID, 2 different and important transport cards.  Lost it on Saturday somewhere between paying at the supermarket at closing time, and home which is maybe 500 meters! I was sure it was at the supermarket cashier but nope, checked today...

I HATE IT. I hate losing things, like that.

Oh well...  Least it was no money, bank cards, credit cards, etc.

I hate losing necessary things in life.  I hate small thefts, too. When I had a garden in the city, sometimes people would steal pots of flowers!  Or someone steels from the building laundry room.  Stuff like that. Its unnerving.  Am I the only one who can't stand this? Maybe its a problem..  I'll get over it but I hate it.  >:( :o

I've gotten better at holding on to my wallet. It was not unusual to lose it once a year, or just lose my DL by itself. I've lost my DL twice in the airport, have actually had Atlanta Airport Police mail it back to me once. When I was a kid I would always lose my key to the house at school, momma got smart and put on a chain and hung it around my neck. But of course I was still able to lose it somehow. But momma tried.

Try spending $310 on your wallet (http://www.neimanmarcus.com/Tom-Ford-Lizard-Card-Case-Dark-Gray/prod154330221_cat000538__/p.prod?icid=&searchType=EndecaDrivenCat&rte=%252Fcategory.service%253FitemId%253Dcat000538%2526pageSize%253D30%2526No%253D0%2526Ns%253DPCS_SORT%2526refinements%253D73700046%252C73700047%252C&eItemId=prod154330221&cmCat=product) and maybe you'll not lose it.

Right, but why would one spend $310 on something that is stuck in their pocket 99.5% of the time? I prefer the $9.89 wallet from Walmert, and if I wanna feel fancy I can get the top shelf faux lizard wallet for $12.50

Not had much access lately to the net.  Much less the time.  :)  I'm almost completely in my new place and am worn beyond belief.  I gave myself a timeline and schedule that must be strictly adhered to.  Thanks to my cognitive issues, every box I brought out of storage was like new shopping.  Some things held great memories and others, I simply didn't remember them.

With mother's passing, I've been handling all the financials, contacting everyone to close accounts and such.  The only one I had a major issue with was Time Warner.  I wanted to transfer that account into my name and simply move the service to the new place.  She fumbled like hell and kept putting me on hold.  I explained several times that the account holder has passed and I simply wanted to keep the same landline number and account but put it into my name and financial responsibility.

After about 40 minutes, I really started getting upset.  She then came back onto the line and said I'd need authorization from the account holder.  I finally said ok and asked to just start new service.  I won't keep the same phone number but I finally got all my packages to install new service.  I did ask that rep to note mom's account that she had passed and that they were waiting on account holder authorization to change or cancel it.  She actually noted it and I bet someone down the road will get a huge WTF thought.

I finally got everything working yesterday but was tired as hell after working all night and knowing I had to work again today @ 2:00 am.

So now, I'm ready to start irritating the shit out of people again....aah, so missed it.  :)

Betty, instead of resting, I went to a Nascar party.  :)  When I looked around and saw all the mini projects that needed done, I decided that I'll tackle them slowly over the rest of my life.  I was being a tad OCD about wanting everything 100% complete but have stopped fretting about it all.

The 3rd bedroom has had nothing done to it other than being bleached down.  I can't imagine ever needing to really use that room as 1 guest room is enough.

On a super awesome positive note; I'm absolutely loving being in charge of my own home again.  Living with mother for the past several years wasn't horrible, but it also wasn't the same as having your own home.  She preferred a modern clutter look with something hanging from every inch of wall space where as I prefer a simple minimalist approach.

The Prop 8 documentary, "The Case Against 8," premiered on HBO tonight.

Just finished it.  Two thumbs up.  Gives ya behind the scenes look at what was going on during trial prep, depositions, and you get to know the plaintiffs better.  Ted Olson remains an interesting person, to me.  It is hard to get my mind around this Ted Olson and Bush v Gore Ted Olson.

Anyway, that's what I'm talking about tonight.

Except it was the United States v. Windsor case that was (and will continue to be) actually more important in the long-run, and is barely mentioned in this documentary which is basically a propaganda piece/PR stunt for deep-pocketed lawyers Boies and Olsen (who earned $6.4 million for this case). It does nothing to set the context of 20 years of litigation planning by gay advocacy groups, or if so they are presented as obstacles -- mostly by omission. The Windsor case is the case being cited by federal judges to strike down existing state laws/amendments as regards gay marriage bans being unconstitutional. This was also done in both the new Becker book and Boies/Olson book about Prop 8.

The Windsor case was the result of a decade long strategy by two gay litigators, but I doubt that they had the money and Hollywood connections (Rob Reiner was instrumental to getting Boies/Olsen on board) to have an HBO crew follow them around and distort history. The Prop 8 case was important, but only for one state, and only because of a technicality that the appeal itself was invalid.

So here's hoping that one day the Windsor case will get the Hollywood treatment it deserves, and in a fuller context of decades of gay activism -- not the all-white elite upper class treatment that the HBO doc shows.

Be sure and add on his new Neroli Portofino Limited Eau de Parfum (http://www.neimanmarcus.com/search.jsp?N=0&Ntt=portofino&_requestid=77804) in either $210 or $520 sizes, plus the same fragrance in a $50 deodorant stick.

I filed the necessary missing papers with the Swiss police. Eh oui - central europe there are always papers and stamps and more than one office to visit for such matters.
I planned to go pay for new papers and went back to the supermarket and insisted they look everywhere someone might have stored it and of course they found it.

The wallet is vintage german. They don't make em like that anymore.  I doubt LV, Hermes or Tom F*cking Ford.  But as I never step foot in the LV or Hermes stores these years, I dunno really.  10 years ago I was unimpressed with the then current craftsmanship at LV and Hermes, though Bottega Veneta was enviable.

Anyhoo, glad to have it back and puts off another few years before I need to find a wallet.  Maybe between now and then another quality vintage one will cross my path... We can hope for that...

Sarah is like her own SNL sketch.  I sometimes have to look hard, to see whether it is Tina Fey.  I think it is soooooo scary she could have been a heartbeat away.  She is such a bitch.  Be mindful I would call a man a bitch.

She picks a fight with Senator, Elizabeth Warren.  The first video is just her response about minimum wage.  The second video is her responses to all 11 points Elizabeth made.  Sarah says to just get government out of everything and businesses will treat their employees better.  She believes minimum wage jobs are for teens, even though the average age is 29.  See how she responds to the minimum wage issue.  She goes off on some tangent about liberals thinking fast food should be shut down and workers should be in purgatory.  I'm pretty liberal.  I like my KFC Double Down sandwich..lol.  It is just dodge the facts and then mention Reagan.  I knew that was coming.

We've covered this before.  Because Hasidic Jews are twisted fetishists. Remember I've told you about the yid from pre-hipster Williamsburg I spied a few times sitting on the floor of a Times Square gay peep show booth with a brown bag of bagels (mostly pumpernickel). early 90's.  He'd impale as many bagels as possible on as many fingers as possible, and he'd gaze up unfocused through his curls and thick glasses and whine on and on "Wanna bagel, anyone wanna bagel? Bagels! Have a bagel!"

Tell you what Im talking bout ... At&t makes me crazy . I recently got very angry with them and got rid of uverse and internet for another company ... hated the new company and came back to At&t this week simply because uverse is the most awesome thing we have to choose from ... I got a great deal and a gift card for coming back but god I hate ealing with them .

A home phone came with this service and its been ringing off the hook so I called them and asked them to not publish the number ... they told it cost $4.99 a month not to be in the phone book ... I hate them all and hope the fleas of a thousand camels infest their crotch . I have been asking all the telemarketers that are calling today if they are calling about the ad and wish to do the anal with me, they doing the hanging up for me .

I don't use a landline any way so I will keep it unplugged unless a get bored and want to talk to strangers about the anal .

So, I sent Kenny to Walmart to buy some fiber in a jar (it's almost the only thing I buy there) and he comes back with this huge container of orange crap. If you don't drink it immediately it turns into some awful gel substance, think Tang jello. I use the quick dissolving clear tasteless stuff that I can sip at my leisure and still retain my dignity!

For some reason the avatar makes me think of the series Masters and Johnson. I read up on her on wiki yesterday - wondered if she ever got a degree. On the series she keeps bringing up going to school and its clearly fucked up she has no degree but wants to be a scientist or some sort of professional of some kind. Wiki said she never got a degree.
Also says they weren't all that homo progressive, although there is a little apology that maybe she regretted some of their conversion therapy, and also this non-pc take on homosexsicles continued into the 80s when the institute published shitty non-factual scare reports on HIV/AIDS.
 >:(

I am pretty much revolted by Dr. Master's character and probably will quite the series after this season.  Maybe that's an accurate portrayal of a chauvinist male of the era, with some enlightened ideas here and there, but I think in fact it may be a FICTION of the series, painting Master's as such a royal dick. I can't see how Johnson was into him, he treats all women like shit.

Well Mecch, sorry to here you are having such a difficult time with it! lol.

It's just a picture of my Grandma. She was a very kind and gentle woman and certainly would never even THINK of doing conversion therapy! Her name was Hazel.  :)

Oh... and she WAS a maid for a few years. Feeling better now?

She looks kind.   ;D
The pic reminded me of that era and the bit characters on M&J, not the main characters, who are decidedly more glamorous, and less kind. :)

So my partner, the flight attendant, is working 11 days straight and I have several days off so I think I'm going hiking in Rocky Mountain National Park for a couple of days. Because I fly free I often take spontaneous solitary trips like this. It would be fun to go with someone but none of my friends can just drop everything, purchase a plane ticket and take off at a moments notice. I'm perfectly happy traveling by myself, even internationally, but a couple of people in my office said they could never take a trip like that alone. One woman even said she would be scared and another said she would be sad. Traveling alone, weird or not?

No way.  Not weird at all.  I once travelled through Switzerland and France on my own.  Was super fun.

Listen. Travelling alone is one thing, in Italy or Peru or Vietnam.  Not weird at all.
But hiking alone is another thing.  Not weird, but maybe iffy?
I've done it, and before cell phones, but on well trafficked trails.
If you are doing day hikes from a base camp on establish trails, sure.  If you are doing long hikes on popular trails, OK.  hmm
I know people who can't or won't go to the movies or a restaurant alone. Let alone a holiday.

I used to travel alone and had a great time doing it . Some folks in my family think its bizarre to leave the U.S and even more so to do it alone, they ask me all the time if I was scared when I traveled alone and I told then that the Hyatt was not a very scary place no matter where its located .

Paris is the No. 1 tourist destination and while its fine to visit with a lover its even better to go there alone and meet a new one!

I bet you weren't alone in that hotel room many a night ;)

I wouldn't have a problem traveling alone, but I really would want to share the experience with someone.

I don't mind do the actual traveling alone, but I always have someone to stay with at my destination. The only time I travelled alone was on my way from Stockholm to Lyon, France -- stayed at a youth hostel in Amsterdam full of hairy Turkish men and since I was only 21 they frightened me.

But when I stay with friends they're usually working some of the time so I do things on my own during the day -- shopping, museums, general walking around. I actually love sitting in a bistro by myself and just watching people.

I'm just doing day hikes on well traveled trails. I would only do serious hikes or overnight camping with a group.

France has always been a dream destination. I have held off going there because I want to do it right.

So Irish. should we go with the lace or silk panties under our dresses? and Abs said you are not gay because you only sleep with one man? So tell me how many men do you have to sleep with before you are considered gay? I mean I slept with a few myself so am I gay now too?    :-\

If I'm all dolled up on a night out its def commando.

Lace tends to bunch up, and silk makes me itch.

To be considered gay, I don't recon there's an actual number, but I'm still awaiting confirmation from a higher authority.

Right now, and for as long as I can foresee, I'm stickin to 1.
I take consolation in that, therefore I must be considered (still) straight.

I mean I slept with a few myself so am I gay now too?    :-\

Don't offer, it's blasé, so 2013.

Oh, and those of you requesting to see my mug. Ain't gonna happen. Blame selfies and the internet. Had an issue a few years ago.
Nothing too serious, but did involve handcuffs, police a ride in the Paddy wagon and some jail time.

He was in his 20's when the tablets were handed to Moses.
No, no, no, I'm sorry…...
As they loaded the animals into the ark Noah insisted on 2 gays.
I'm almost certain Abso was one of them.

What's are your favourites bands from the 60's.

I just watched "Fly" a doc on Jefferson Airplane

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0427256/

complete on Youtube as well
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zFcZeJAPSfk

Learned some things.  For instance Grace Slick explains how as they evolved after their first hits, into something more like a live huge concert rock band, everyone eventually just stuck to their roots and inspiration so during one song the guitars might be playing in two different inspirations, the drummer another, and so on.

Also there's a scene of their live outlaw concert on top of a tower in Mid-Town Manhattan that seems UBER 60s to me.

And my god Slick could belt it out.

Also this BBC 3-part documentary about film scores:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b03b51db/episodes/guide

Complete fascinating and mostly all new info for me!

Movies are just an amazing art when you think how many elements and therefore artists, go into one, and how successfully they transport us.

The film maker is particularly fond of John Barry's The Ipcress File score:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EFjq-VlA1VM

Among many others.

Also you can learn about the three different kinds of scoring.

1Classical orchestral scoring, which he claims comes out of Vienna musical tradition
2 scoring with popular music (jazz, rock, pop, disco)
3 electronic scoring.

Electronic scoring has a much longer history than I knew.

Its hard now that we are used to everything and everything, to listen to older scores and realise how revolutionary and odd they must have seemed.

Also his little factoid:
Apocalypse Now was created to be played in a one theatre only, in the middle of the US, for example Saint Louis, where it would be played for decades as a destination tourist attraction.   Coppola had surround sound invented for it. His father Carmine scored it and it mixes pop music, and symphonic scored played electronically....  ;D

There are film clips of Wendy Carlos

Almost all of the Woodstock lineup became bands to love for me . I'm a huge Carlos Santana fan and can listen to him play guitar all day long . I love all the bands that rescued Muddy waters and Howlin Wolf and made sure they were touring and getting paid for doing it the first time . I loved the fact that in the 60's they believed they were going to change the world and the lessons we learned from the success and failures of the counter revolution .

I'm also a huge Santana fan, and I love the fact that Carlos S will talk about what it was like when he was doing drugs, and how he's stopped.  Such a legend.

I also love Janis Joplin and Jimmi Hendrix.  No one had or has a voice like Janis'.  She was definitely one of a kind.  And Jimmi, well, what can you say?  Talk about guitar genius.

I thought I was old but you peeps, IDK.
Maybe it's a Euro thing, I recogonize the names and perhaps a song or two, but know nothing about them.

Abso, you're a 'kid'. How do you know about this crud. LOL

And I thought I was edumacated !

I'm a child of the '60s, (perhaps I'm the kid) and it's hard to beat a 4/4 beat with at least 135 bpm, a load of base and as loud as possible. Sorry !.

Gay to the core possibly ?! IDK lol. (I'll conflab with The Latin and report back).

Besides being a guitar genius, Hendrix was an all around musical genius - great revolutionary music and also very beautiful, trippy music. He was a good singer too!  And seems to have been a loveable person.

Generally, more this style, not necessarily this version though, pref a tad louder and more arms jabbing the air.

Nick Jonas apparently likes showing skin in gay bars.  I would hit that.  Wait, he is an adult now, right?  Must be to be in bars.

I reconed it would be close.

One of the main reasons NO would win was due to the submarines and Trident missiles based there and if an independant Scotland would join NATO.

Being slightly biased, and for purely selfish reasons, I hoped for a YES.

Not necessarily for Scotlands wellbeing but if Scotland kissed the Queen goodbye, Northern Ireland would be next and join (rejoin) Southern Ireland and the EU / EEC or whatever it's called. (them ones that use the Euro as currency).

Northern Ireland is the biggest drain on UK taxpayers, and perhaps the most subsidized in the world per capita.

With a population of 1.8million, receiving approx 6 (six) billion pounds sterling annually.

NB the largest % of that drain goes to the British army and police.

The second largest goes to those working the system.
Never before have I seen so many 20-40 year olds using walking sticksAnd because they can't work they are provided an income and housing.

It's practically comical.

Irish Eyes,

Yes,I do understand your reasoning...and it was a really close call.
I work in a really deprived area ,which was expected to vote yes...and the results showed no.It was a night full of surprises....and really divided the country.

Thanks for your reply.

Calgon take me away!!

I wish I were in the US and could have some kiddies come trick or treating...  Switzerland doesn't do holidays very extravagantly.  Carnival can be good, though.

I remember my first NYC Halloween Parade as an adult.   Gawd that was fun and super campy.

Mind you, in the 60's and 70's in suburbia, little boys' extravaganzas were indulged on Halloween, don't you remember?  Nobody said nothing, batted no eyes...

What fun.
