Anyone know of a good nutrition book?
« on: July 07, 2008, 12:32:31 pm »
I am looking to read more on nutrition and HIV. Maybe something like a cook book or more in depth into the nutritional issues with HIV an how to support oneself. OR if you happen to have any great Book recommendations about HIV I would love to hear them. I read a ton and want to read in depth more.  When I was in culinary school I had to get certified in Nutrition which I still am, but it has been a long time since those days and I have forgotten a lot.

If you get one I'd love to read it too!  That said, I've always thought that 'common' sense eating was the way to go.  HIV positive folks need to be healthy overall, so building lean muscle mass, eating in a way that promotes wellness and doesn't challenge it makes sense--Who else remembers the days of "eat ANYTHING you want!  Just keep the waisting bogeyman away" approach? Some of us are STILL on treadmills burning off those ice-cream breakfasts.

I found a useful book for living with HIV is The First Year HIV An Essential Guide for the Newly Diagnosed[i

It's a good 'starter' with a balanced view on a lot of HIV related issues.

Just my opinion.

I would love to read Lark's full book as I have been reading her site and like what I see. But now I am having a hard time finding a copy. If anyone sees a copy around on the great World Wide Web please feel free to let me know.

It looks like the new edition or version is coming out sometime this year. But I still want to read the 1995 version if anyone knows where it is hiding.

Mary Romeyn's "Nutrition and HIV"

It was originally published well over a decade ago, but the info remains valid.  Here's a link to copies found through froogle.com

Dude,

You have a link in your signature line which recommends the views of Linus Pauling, the infamous quack.

So do your worst.  ::)

With the 7,000+ posts that you have to your credit they illustrate basically what you are all about 'nothing'.
You very much remind me of a piranha feeding off of other people in order to have a life.Maybe you should go join the circus they might have a useful place for you in their act.

Loren,

You changed your sig line to remove the pro Linus Pauling site link.

I kept a signed and dated screen-shot of your last post WITH this link in it. Do you really want me to post the screenshot?

Think carefully before you respond.

Loren,

Like I said I have a screen-shot. The screen-shot.

It ties you to a Linus Pauling site.

I think I should post it. What do you think, Loren?

See if I post it, you become an apologist for Linus Pauling. Is that what you believe Loren? Do you really support the views of Linus Pauling?

No Loren. It doesn't work like that.

:)

Until a short time ago you had a link to a site in your signature line. That site was authored by a proponent of the views of Linus Pauling.

Why don't you tell us about Linus Pauling and his Vitamin C therapy?

Why not give us the "ortho-moluclear" link?

I have the screen-shot.

Remember?

What a nice way to start the week -- with a pissing contest.

Take it far away from the Forums, both of you -- and I don't want to hear from either one of you in this thread again, period. You're both warned.

Come on, boys.
