My Turn: New Lab Results
« on: June 01, 2006, 03:49:14 am »
Went to the doc today to get blood results drawn about two weeks ago.  Let's get the numbers out of the way, shall we?

VL <50
CD4:  106
CD4 %:  5

Prior lab results from middle of March, 2006:
VL <50
CD4:  136
CD4 %:  2

Initial lab work @ end of January, 2006:
VL 303,000
CD4: 13 (remember, the 12 apostles and Mary Magdalene)
CD4 %: can't remember due to Major Freak-Out

I'm going to take a moment to brag on myself here.  My usual modus operandi is to start ramping up my anxieties the moment I step in the sliding glass doors of La Clinica.  Today, I sauntered in with my cheap-ass Old Navy flip-flops and my raggedy-ass shorts and T-shirt.

But I was looking good and feeling good.  Oh yes.  And everybody in that place KNEW it.  Today, I OWNED La Clinica.

Dialed up "Sexy" by Klymaxx on the iPod (with big-ass DJ headphones in place), head bobbing down the hallway, and they cleared a path for me on either side.

Got my results, gossiped with my cute gay doctor, made a few wise-ass remarks on my departure and left La Clinica on TOP OF THE WORLD.

Score one in the "GREAT DAY' column for JohnOso!

Be good my friend, so happy for you and those numbers!

John,

Oh how I remember those numbers.  What is great is that the vl is under control.  That is certainly the biggie, and I thank you for the imagery in "La Clinica".  I can just see it now, and placing it in the East Bay certainly made it more real.  I wonder, did you have to travel to "The City" for help, or is La Clinica near you in Martinez?

Thanks for the kind words of encouragement from you all!

'La Clinica" is actually in Pittsburg, Tim (or as we lovingly call it, "Pissburg")  just a hop, skip and jump over these parched hills!  Does make me a bit nervous to share a waiting room with the pediatric nurse practitioner ninos, so I kinda do my own thing in a corner.

And not to worry -- head, hips, and ass.....I was shakin' what my mama gave me Rocky.   ;)

Everyone take care,
John

Looking good fella!
Its remarkable how the old bod wants to recover once the virus is put down.
And still so scary how devastiating the virus is on the system.
Nasty, nasty thing this virus.
Keeping it "undetectable" is the whole ball game.
Your going in the right direction...   ;)

Hello John,

Meant to reply earlier, just want to add to what the others have said, and wishing you the best.

It can take a little time to get those numbers up, the main thing, they are improving. I was in a simular situation, back in 2003. Only found out several weeks ago, my lowest percentage was  " 3%". That is also when My t-cells were at 16.

Your doing ok John....Small steps... eating well, and getting plenty of rest will all certainly contribute. Hang tough, continue with a great attitude, and you will go a long way !!  Attitude plays a major role.

Don't know why but the lyrics were the first thing to come to my mind when I read your thread.  Congrats on the improved numbers

Do Wah Diddy

Hello party people
Put your hands up in the air
And sing loud with me

There she was just a walking
Down the street singin'
Do wah diddy diddy dum diddy do
Come on, one more time
There she was just a walking
Down the street singin'
Do wah diddy diddy dum diddy do

There she was just a walking
Down the street singin'
Do wah diddy diddy dum diddy do
Snapping her fingers
And a shuffling her feet singin'
Do wah diddy diddy dum diddy do

She looked good (looked good)
She looked fine (looked fine)
She looked good, she looked fine
And I nearly lost my mind

Before I knew it she was walking
Next to me singin'
Do wah diddy diddy dum diddy do
Holding my hand
Just as natural as can be singin'
Do wah diddy diddy dum diddy do

We walked on (walked on)
To my door (my door)
We walked on to my door
Then we kissed a little more

Woah, woah
I knew we were falling in love
Yes I did, so I told her all the things
I've been dreaming of

Now we're together nearly
Every single day, singin'
Do wah diddy diddy dum diddy do
We're so happy
And that's how we're gonna stay, singin'
Do wah diddy diddy dum diddy do

Well I'm hers (I'm hers)
She's mine (she's mine)
I'm hers, she's mine
Wedding bells are gonna chime

Woah, woah
I knew we were falling in love
Yes I did, so I told her all the things
I've been dreaming of

Come on, all right, clap your hands
Party people clap your hands
Come on, party again now
1, 2, 3, 4

There she was just a walking
Down the street singin'
Do wah diddy diddy dum diddy do
Snapping her fingers
And a shuffling her feet singin'
Do wah diddy diddy dum diddy do

She looked good (looked good)
She looked fine (looked fine)
She looked good, she looked fine
And I nearly lost my mind

Singin'
Do wah diddy diddy dum diddy do
Singin'
Do wah diddy diddy dum diddy do
Singin'
Do wah diddy diddy dum diddy do

She looks good (she looks good)
I look good (you look good)
