I'm confused ... is submitting a vote one of the two options to choose from or can you choose both options and still submit a vote . I really don't want to fuck this up and end up looking ridiculous if adap is monitoring this thread , please help .

i'm in the mercy of the federal govt for my meds
not really. you could purchase them yourself, or you could get them through insurance.

however, if your income is below a certain level, based on the the federal poverty level and the guidelines in your state, you can get assistance through ADAP or medicaid to get your medications. There are also other options like obtaining them through an ASO or through Welvista. Very few people who need medications cannot obtain them. Even people on the ADAP waiting lists are usually temporarily covered through other agencies.

perhaps if you could more accurately explain what you're talking about, what you think Ann said (even a link to the thread would be helpful), whether you're getting meds or not, and what state you're living in, you might get more help and we might understand what you're rambling on about. Quite frankly very few (maybe even none) of your posts make much sense. Is english your native language? Do you understand that punctuation helps people understand your thoughts by dividing them into sentences. ;)

Hi Short,

I'm going to take a stab at figuring out what you are trying to write.

A few days ago, Ann included this in a post to you "Shortguy, it's not only people in resource-poor areas of the world who are dying from hiv related causes. Did you click on any of the links I gave you yesterday (in the now-locked thread)? It was a list of nine recently deceased forum members - seven who lived in the States and two in the UK, where, by the way, we get all our hiv care and meds for free. One of the people in the States committed suicide directly because of hiv. She was falling through the cracks - she had too much income to qualify for any financial help, but was too poor to afford health insurance and care, much less meds. She couldn't take it any more and took her own life." I think this is somehow woven into your thinking and your post.

I think you are first confirming you are in the US (many of us know that, but it helps to get it from you again)

I think you are stating if someone commits suicide as a result of not getting meds you were told that it's out of ADAP's control. Did I get that right?

You seem to clearly state you believe you are at the mercy of the US government as it relates to you getting meds.  Did I get that right?

I think you are stating that Jeffrey, an administrator who gave you meds thinks the US federal government cares for US citizens -- this is from his experience. Did I get that right?

I think you are stating that England is No. 1 in its care of its people by making meds free.  Did I get that right?

And finally, I think you are stating that the US isn't No. 1 because you were told you'd get help with your meds (and it seems as if you haven't gotten help). Did I get that right?

Did I come close to translating what you wrote? We ALL want to know.

I don't think you need a poll to get some feedback. If you need a poll, then your question and answer options need to be clearer for us.

Thanks much.
Em

I'm sorry, because I have really tried to understand what you are saying, but I can't because you cannot write an intelligible sentence.  Therefore, I'm done trying to decipher your posts, because if you are too lazy to actually write so we can understand you, then you don't want answers very bad.

Start showing some respect for us, by posting in English, but until that happens, I suggest members simply do not reply to you.  It's not our job to decide what you think.

Also, your poll makes no sense whatsoever.  They are not even questions and you can't have a poll, where you can answer yes to all the questions.

Short, I have NO idea what you're talking about. At this point I'm not sure I care. There are only so many hours in the day and I don't have time to spend trying to decipher your cryptic posts.

I don't talk about ADAP in any depth because other than the very basics; I don't know the details of how it works. It's complicated and varies from state to state and since I live in the UK, I see no reason why I should learn the ins and outs of ADAP in ever state when there are people here who live in those states and can answer ADAP questions from experience.

What I DO know is that ADAP is underfunded in many states and teetering on the brink of disaster.

The person I mentioned in another thread who committed suicide was paralyzed with depression, depression due in large part to her failed attempts to navigate the complicated ADAP and other public assistance programs in her state. Her case worker was no use.

I'm sure she's not the only one with health problems in the States who has committed suicide in despair over the health system and inability to pay for health care. She probably won't be the last either, she's just the only one I know of first-hand.

She was an example of how living with hiv - even today, even in a developed country like the US - still IS a big deal, despite your repeated attempts to downplay it's seriousness.

You wrote another cryptic reference to something I am alleged to have said in another thread, and you seemed to be implying that the US government is watching our ADAP threads because of it. You seemed to imply that I'm in some sort of trouble because of it. Oh lawdy, I'm quaking in my boots - NOT. I stand by every single thing I write in these forums. (and at least my posts can be understood, unlike yours)

If something I've written here makes the US government sit up and take notice of how positive people feel about the underfunded and teetering-on-the-edge-of-failure ADAP system, then GOOD. I'm glad.

ROFLMAO! I seriously doubt "ADAP" is watching these threads seeing that it is administered by the individual states. That being said...I did have a thought Ann:

For lack of anything better to do with 30 minutes of my life, I read and re-read what shortbus wrote and could not figure it out...

I am feeling somewhat dis-enlightened; my self-esteem has shrunk to an all time low; and knowing that Ann is under surveillance of the ADAP  po-po has me quite distraught...

I don't know how to cope with this other than to go re-read the unibomber manifesto and perhaps the Kim Kardashian autobiography and see if I can somehow make sense of everything.

Or, on second thought, maybe just have a Corona or two and allow the barley and hops direct me to the answers I seek.

no my case worker from ryan white told me to take what they say as a grain of salt b/c alot will be said to those that don't apply to them as my case it didn't apply for which they both concerned about my finances to getting my meds told them both i'm enrolling to be in the federal pre existing insurance that way i will pay my monthly bill for it and pay the 1600 for the 1st month's of my medicine the administrator told me if i needed help for the 1st month they will help and be counted towards the 1600 for the 1st yr's of prescriptions

Some simple definitions for you:

Period - A punctuation mark ( . ) indicating a full stop, placed at the end of declarative sentences and other statements thought to be complete, and after many abbreviations.

Comma - A punctuation mark ( , ) used to indicate a separation of ideas or of elements within the structure of a sentence.

Capital letter - One of the large alphabetic characters used as the first letter in writing or printing proper names and sometimes for emphasis; "printers once kept the type for capitals and for small letters in separate cases; capitals were kept in the upper half of the type case and so became known as upper-case letters"

Grammar - The system of rules implicit in a language, viewed as a mechanism for generating all sentences possible in that language.

Fool - One who is deficient in judgment, sense, or understanding.

I still can't really understand what the heck you're writing. ::) However, I'll take a stab at it.

yes, every RW case is different because people have different finances. However, some of the RW rules are federal and some are state, and by looking at the state's website, one can conclusively say things about RW and ADAP eligibility (like FPL qualifications and types of meds and tests covered through each state's formulary)

by the way, paying $1600 out-of-pocket for your meds sounds pretty extraordinary. There should be some ASO or program to help you get your medications cheaper than that, unless of course you can financially afford that kind of monthly medical bill because you're crazy-rich. ;D

however if you are financially eligible for assistance, then ADAP should help with insurance premiums and/or co-pays. Additionally, most pharmaceutical companies offer patient-assistance programs and/or co-pay programs to help people afford their medications. Finally there may be an ASO in your area to help provide your meds or state medicaid may be an option.

Or maybe, just maybe, he has a learning disability.? Anyone think of that?

I'm not seeing a learning disability, i.e. dyslexia or anything like that and I have a PM from shorts that is actually readable, albeit lacking correct punctuation. It is more plausible, IMHO that English is not his first language and it is possible that he is using a translator. Deciphering what comes across as gibberish makes answering important questions and engaging in conversation difficult and sometimes impossible.
Diagnosed in  May of 2010 with teh AIDS.

PCP Pneumonia . CD4 8 . VL 500,000

TRIUMEQ - VALTREX -  FLUOXETINE - FENOFIBRATE - PRAVASTATIN - CIALIS

Numbers consistent since 12/2010 - VL has remained undetectable and CD4 is anywhere from 275-325
