We are interested in your suggestions as to the time of year AMG ’07 could be held and held and why you believe the time you are proposing makes sense. We would ask that you post your suggestions by October 31, as we will use the month of November for voting and tallying. The reason for this method is to help ensure we have a definite plan for those who must submit for their vacation plans by year’s end. Thank you for taking the time to post your suggestion.

I will make the suggestion for around the middle of September - give or take a week or so. First and foremost, flights are generally cheaper after Labor Day (U.S.), which should fall the first Monday in September.
Depending on where the location ends up, it could also cut down on tourist activity, for those that consider that a "plus".
Weather in the vast majority of places should still be very nice during September as well.

Anytime after Labor day, so we get a better rate after the "vacation season" is passed.

I like September. While the security issues may be raised, it is still a great time to travel and get good rates on hotels, air fare and to avoid being overrum by rugrats.
Just my 2¢ worth.

Anytime is fine with me. September would be a great month. Not only does Mark raise a valid point that rates tend to be a bit lower due to most people not wanting to travel around 9/11, but rates are also lower this time of year after kids have returned to school; better know as shoulder season.

September's out for me. I, like the kids, am back in school. As the beginning of the school year is important - I would not be taking time off. It's disappointing to see it go in this direction, but I certainly understand the reasons why. If it's in September - enjoy! Maybe another year for me.

Personally, I like to travel on Boxing Day...the day after Christmas. Fares are really cheap, people are normally already at their destinations and flights seem plentiful and not overly crowded. Since we live in a place that is ALWAYS hot, it is so nice to be in a difference climate and environment. Leaving after Xmas gives us the chance to visit with family members first, then take off. I'm probobly in the minority here, but it's my preference of travel time.

Fantastic idea cyber - I went to SF years ago and left the day after Xmas. Great time of year to get some sun and warmth.

All of september? not even the first week?

If I remember correctly, we ran up against this issue last year and that was why the event was scheduled for August, despite the cost of travel being slightly higher than in September. Some members were in school or had kids in school (not sure if they all attended or not), and that ruled out September.

I believe August was picked because some members had unused tickets from the year prior that needed to be used within a calendar year.
I vote for September for all the above reasons (cheaper, no kids, less conflicts & perfect weather). I would love to make it to one of these events!

Anytime is pretty much OK with the hubby and I. Of course, this depends on where we have the AMG ... Montreal in February would suck and Houston in August would be nasty!

Hey Dingo,
School begins the Tuesday after Labor Day - If the gatehring were backed up into the end of August and ended on Labor Day that's doable - but we kick off school for all of September essentially. And in the southern states school begins even earlier.

My suggestion would be anytime after September 1st. that way its a little cooler....but open really to anything.

September may be tricky, but I'll work it out! I may be in Seattle around then so it may be easier! Who knows!

My "selfish" vote would be for September for all the reasons given -- nice weather, few kids, cheaper flights, etc, etc.
However, summer does seem to be a better time for many with kids or in school, so......... given enough notice, I'm sure that I can work out just about anytime in '07 (except Feb -- we are off to Hawaii then) ;D
I'm just excited about it already and am already counting down the days (I just don't know how far I'm counting, but life is often like that now, isn't it!)

Let me reiterate my preference and qualifiy it to say I'm accusing nobody of any lack of sensitivity or foresight - everyone is entitled to their opinion. Here's mine. I really enjoyed AMG 06 and would like to do 07. The month of September EXCLUDES teachers. Maybe I'm the only one. We've just come off summer vacation and are not entitled to or ethically supported in taking another. Also people with kids should be there for them when they're starting school and all their activities - summer generally is a bit more flexible. Please don't exclude me and other school related professionals and possibly parents from attending. Thank you for listening. And remember noone is being accused of trying to cut anyone out. It's just a by-product of the direction of the discussion.

While September would be fine, August is OK too! For that matter, December would work as long as it isn't in someplace I would be snowbound.
The only thing I ask is I have enough advance notice to start saving my pennies.

Oh Mark, you're not THAT easy. If you were, I'd have had a bit of a show in Montreal. I mean, it was right there for the taking. LOL :P
