A VERY serious and IMPORTANT question
« on: June 19, 2006, 12:20:21 pm »
Since there will be a special event in Montreal, namely a commitment ceremony/wedding, what are we to wear?

Should I bring my infamous purple suit? Is a sport jacket and tasteful slacks with coordinated tie and shirt sufficient?

Will it be clothing optional and, if so, why type of sunglasses should I wear?

I don't want to show up looking too casual if everyone else is more formally attired. So, what should I wear?

This will have an impact on which and how many suitcases I bring.

HUGS,

Mark

Marc,

That black dress you had on last time we skyped suits you splendidly.
I would wear a lighter jacket with it...

Hi Mark,

Ric posted this in another thread here :

Quote
We are glad you asked this question.  We want each of our friends to be comfortable at this event.  Thom and I are wearing white linen (we know, shocking!) shirts and black leather jeans.  The only requirement we are going to impose is that you be there and not upstage the grooms.

It sounds as if Dame Jan and Rocky are going to vie for best "dressed".  Trish and John have not said much, so we will be surprised.  And Joe and Stephen know that kilts are requested.  Everyone else is expected to wear what they are at ease wearing.  We just want you to be there with us.

We love you all, Ric and Thom

Hi Az:

O.K. being serious for a minute!  (But only 1!   :D)

I'm probably going to wear a nice pair of walking shorts and dressy casual shirt.

I'm certainly not going to bring a darn coat and tie, plus that'd mean I'd have to bring a pair of dress shoes too.   :P

The other option is to wear a pair of dressy casual pants, but I think I'm going with the shorts.

I hope you don't mind my attire from the Old Navy collection. Trust me, I am not going to be upstaging ANYONE that weekend :)

Are you going to be wearing a pair of those pink briefs underneath those shorts?

I will be wearing my standard attire,  khaki flat front pants & a short sleeve shirt. I don't "do" ties.

I may opt for the purple suit - its actually a sort of lavender/plum color.

Then again, my chaps and black leather posing strap would fit in nicely.

Hmmmmm, or maybe that pink taffeta party dress. I'm sure the stains will come out if I scrub. (I wore it at the last group camping trip I attended and it didn't fare well.)

Or, maybe I'll just surprise you!  :o

In honor of our grooms, our attire will consist of leather upon leather.  It's nice to dress up in REAL clothes, instead of the shorts/shirts that are our staple back home.  I always thought weddings were for strutting in your finest, as long as you didn't upstage the bride.  We don't have any brides (technically) in this wedding, so we figure the skys the limit.

honey, you're packing LIGHT compared to my list.... ;D

I need all those items you mentioned, except I don't have any hair (but I still use shampoo and a blow dryer....how weird is that?)

Maybe we should compare notes and do some 'joint' packing......for instance, you bring the putty, I'll bring the trowel....somebody could bring one big tube of toothpaste and give us all a squirt before bedtime (that sounded nasty)

Claude,

the people causing the drama would probably ENJOY sitting on it, and not see it as punishment...

Shane,

I'll be happy to give you a squirt.....of my toothpaste.  ;D

Seriously, I am having major 'packing trauma'....it's not that I don't know how to pack, it's just trying to make DECISIONS on what to take....my usual modus operendi is to take everything, then use what I need...unfortunately, that's not feasible.

Like most everything else I do, I need to start with a LIST.  I'll work on that tomorrow.  (how much stuff do you think I can cram into a carry-on bag?)
