This is hardly a trumped up controversy. I am making a big deal about this because there are newcomers who know nothing, or little about HHV8,KS, or poppers. Be they gay youth, oldsters coming out late, immigrants being introduced to urban life, etc. Do we share what we know? our experience? our perspective? Do we caution when there is danger? Do we update when new research surfaces?

I recall an inquiry about poppers by someone unaware that the topic was controversial and unsettled.

I  give a cautionary perspective about poppers and cite published research to justify it.  Others give a green light to using poppers, nothing to be concerned with...dismissing the published research I cite, and citing other research to justify ignoring or dismissing  research.  Others have taken  a reasonable middle ground, citing moderation as a reference point for all recreational drugs. I cite a mystery about HHV-8 and KS in gay men, and propose poppers as a candidate cofactor that could explain some of that puzzle. Others ignore the HHV-8 and KS mystery exists, or fail to assess all potential factors.  Big differences in approach and content.

I made a public information request of the EXPLORE STUDY ancillary study on HHV-8 and received some information today. I'll start a new topic to share that response and news. Hank

Yeah I'll bite! Poppers are a square peg and my health kick is the round hole. I can't believe my ex BF offered me his poppers - Way to "nurture" a 22-year-old gay lad who didn't know much  >:( Poppers are poopers

I never saw it after that unless it got spilt on me in a sling at Lou Maletta's sex club.
