Herbal tablets/Rapid Rod, Andy or Anne, can you help me?
« on: October 06, 2013, 05:03:43 pm »
Hello folks!
I have a problem and hope you can help me. I am pregnant woman close to delivery. Before my pregnancy i was tested hiv negative with 3rd generation eclia antibody only test, with index value 0.375 (<0.9 was non reactive). The problem is: One whole year prior to test and in the time of test, all that time with no pause, i was taking daily herbal supplement of herb Peruvian Maca. Ingridiants of these tablets are:
- dry extract of herb peruvian maca, dry extract of greek seed, bee pollen, lactose monohydrat, microcrystal celulose, mg stearat, l arginine and talk.

Afer that test i was in panic that using these tablets one year prior test and in the time of test with no pause can make false negatives or block antobodies production. I was stopped to use this herbal tablest and 2 months after i stopped, i took second antibody test 3rd generation and was non reactive with little higher index 0.576 (for <0.9 non reactive).
Both tests were done about 4 years of my last possible exposure.
My questions:
1. Is there any chance that using these herbal tablets one year prior to test and in the time of test, daily, with no pause can make false negative result on antibody test 3rd generation?
2. Is it possible that using these herbal tablets one year prior and in the time of test with no pause can block antobodies production?
3. Are my both tests reliable?
4. Am i definitly and conclusively negative?
Thank you!

The test is reliable and there are no supplements that would suppress HIV antibody or lead to false positives . You are HIV negative . Congratulations on the baby that's soon to be born , best of luck to you both .
