Title: worried....negative test result but showing symptoms
Post by: losny on July 13, 2006, 12:46:36 pm
I'vex to all who read and replay ;D

about 3 months ago i've really started to feel depressed.you know questioning myself and my purpose in life and also going over all my failures and mistakes over and over again.

on June 13 this year i went to clinic because Ive been feeling week, wait loss about 15 lbs, having night sweets, irregular heartbeat, dizziness when i bend down and stand up, discharge on penis head(not from tip but all over including foreskin),occasionall cloudy urine, and diarrhea. before going to the clinic i checked the web for my symptoms which all point to hiv. well all test came out fine, hiv, std and blood work. when i told the doc about my heart they put me on an EKG then sent me to the er. they couldn't find the cause of it. later on they told me that i had Lyme anti-bodies but i don't recall getting bitten or having a rash. about a week later they say that it seems like i have Lyme disease but are going to wait till august 2 to do more blood work. my question is can this be a false positive and its detecting hiv.

thanx again for all how read and reply
you will aid my peace of mind which is non existent right now
thanx again

losny,

Lime disease antibody tests pick up Lime disease antibodies and hiv antibody tests pick up hiv antibodies. No, one wouldn't pick the other up.

As long as you tested 12-13 weeks after the last time you had unprotected anal or vaginal intercourse, your negative hiv test is conclusive.

thanx guys for the replies i really appriciate them  :)

when i checked my symptoms on webmd they only led my to believe it was hiv.when i went to the doctors they said maybe lyme deasise. so i went back to webmd to look up lyme desease and one sectioned said:

The result is a false positive. Sometimes an antibody test for Lyme disease detects antibodies to other bacteria (such as syphilis bacteria) or viruses (such as the Epstein-Barr virus or the human immunodeficiency virus, HIV). The test may also detect antibodies that develop as part of an immune response against the body's own tissues (autoimmune disease such as rheumatoid arthritis or lupus). It can be difficult to tell whether the antibodies detected have developed in response to the bacteria that cause Lyme disease.

thanx again
