Blood exposure
« on: March 31, 2007, 06:18:58 pm »
Yesterday I was playing basketball in nyc. During the game the skin was ripped off of my thumb and I was bleeding a great deal. I had blood on my hand while I was playing. I noticed that the guy I was guarding had blood on his shirt which he told me was from him because he was bleeding. My concern is that my wound contacted his wound or his blood on his shirt. I washed my thumb in the water fountain after the game. Do i need a test or should I let this go. I do not want to put my girlfriend at risk.

Casual sports contact, regardless of whether blood was present, has been dismissed as a source of infection for HIV. HIV requires specific conditions that sports contact doesn't provide in order for transmission to be considered. There are more than a few professional sport athletes that are HIV positive, a few play professional football.

You did not experience a risk from your incident.

Basket, HIV is a fragile virus. It is not easy to transmit and the kind of scenario you described is not the kind of friendly environment it needs for transmission, such as in vaginal or anal intercourse.

Read the lesson on this site about transmission. It gives you all the basics. There's a link to it in the Welcome thread which opens this section.

Cheers,

With no risk, there is no need to test over this specific incident. However, I still think it would be worth your while to read the transmissions lessons on this site.

"Many people, especially in the gay community, turn to oral sex as a safer alternative in the age of AIDS. And with HIV rates rising, people need to remember that oral sex is safer sex. It's a reasonable alternative."

HIV transmission does NOT occur this way.  IT is an extremely fragile and tough to transmit virus and it is only ONLY transmitted INSIDE the body.  Not from the environment as you are asking.

NO RISK.  NO NEED TO TEST.  Please read the lessons before asking any more questions.

Needle stick
« Reply #10 on: April 11, 2007, 03:03:53 pm »
I was in ny walking down a street where there is a needle exchance program. I bumped into a guy and my hand hit his pocket or bag. I looked at my hand and there was a spot on the top and the side. My anxiety immediately kicked in. I thought I could have been stuck with a needle. I saw no blood just redness. I saw no needle. Would I be the first to be infected this way should I test?  I am seeking help for my anxiety. Please let me know and tell me to forget about this or go for testing. Thank you

You've already come here with one incident which was not a risk and for which no testing was needed.

Now you've got a second one which is just as totally unfounded in relation to HIV science. You're just putting a bunch of what ifs together -- suppositions and guesses which have no basis in actual facts. Cut it out! It's bad for your health.

I'm wondering if you have taken the time to read our lesson on transmission. There's a link to in the welcome thread which opens this section. Even if you have already read I suggest you do so again so you can get the basics down about transmission. They have nothing to with the kind of worries you are indulging in. Really.

Sorry to bother again I am in therapy but i need reassurance. I was playing basketball again the other day and this time I looked at my arm and there was blood on it. The guy I was guarding was bleeding. My arm has small pimples and little scratches and scars. Do I need to test over this incident I swear this happened. Is this just just something to forget about when it happens. Was there any risk. Sorry

The answers will NEVER change no matter how you ask them.

It is NOT a risk.  But if I were you and was encountering this type of anxiety on a regular basis due to a hobby....id find another hobby!  Try tennis or something non-contact.

And take this thread to your next therapy session, seriously, it will help your therapist help you.

Stupid question
« Reply #17 on: April 16, 2007, 07:23:23 pm »
Today I was with a friend and he was passing around a writing pen. When I touched the top the pin shocked me. It was a prank pin meant to send a shock to the person who tries to push the cap down. My skin melted a little I am worried, because the pen was passed to several people who got shocked and my skin got melted some. Is this a risk. should I test I'm sorry to bother Had therapy today.

Seriously man.  You need to switch therapists then.  I have one of the shock pens, they do NOT melt your skin, the voltage isnt anywhere NEAR high enough.

Im with rod.  This forum cannot be of ANY help to you anymore.

Cunnilingus after sex
« Reply #22 on: April 29, 2007, 01:16:35 pm »
Hi my girlfriend and I had sex earlier in the night. Then about a hour later I ate her out. and then we had sex again. All of our intercourse was protected. But she bleeds a little after intercourse. Could of I been infected by hiv if she had some blood in her vagina after I had sex with her the first time and then ate her out. I did not taste any, but she did say she bled a little. Do i need a hiv test or can I forget about this.
Thank You

#1 Stop starting new threads. I've merged the latest one with your previous.

#2 No, you weren't at risk in this incident.

#3 The pattern of your ongoing questions suggests to me that you have some issues about HIV and sex which have no basis in HIV science. I recommend that you see a counselor or other professional to discuss the emotional aspects of whatever is driving your repeated concerns about non-risk situations.

#4 You are fast wearing out your welcome here and on the verge of getting a time out. We can't resolve your what if worries here. Get yourself some help with that.
